LLDC argues that London Stadium is suitable for football

|

LLDC Chairman Sir Peter Hendy has claimed the London Stadium is suitable for football and has quoted Manuel Pellegrini to highlight it when he faced the London Assembly this week.

Sir Peter told Assembly members “There is an impression around in some parts of the media that this is an unsuitable football stadium, now I was delighted to read that the new West Ham manager, quote “I don’t know why this new stadium has to be difficult?,I don’t see any reason why it has to be difficult? the pitch has the same measurements, the grass is in very good shape, the atmosphere of 55,000 is great, the stadium is not an excuse’ and he goes on to lord the new stadium’ All I am saying is it good to have an endorsement from someone who actually manages the football team that it is suitable for the purpose that it is used”

Hendy later added quoting Manuel Pellegrini again: “I don’t worry about it, I worry about only how I can make my team play well, three metres nearer or three metres back, it’s not a problem”

Of course Manny wouldn’t slag off the stadium, or training facilities for that matter.
He’s being paid a huge salary by those that insisted the move was the right thing for the club. He’s not going to bite the hand that feeds him, is he now?

Pellegrini is talking about the suitability of the stadium to PLAY football in. Our gripe is it’s suitability, or not, for WATCHING football. Two completely different things.

      Fair play fella👍
Didn’t really see the distinction between the two to be honest.

Yeah, I remember when Andy Carroll scored that blinder against Palace, everyone round me just tutted and said “I wish I’d seen that in a different stadium – the running track ruined that goal for me”.

It’s nothing to do with the stadium and everything to do with the football.
