London Stadium catering contract revealed

|

The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) have finally revealed details of the 25 year London Stadium catering contract between Delaware North and operators London Stadium 185.   The public body has finally published the catering contract and business plan after a fourteen-month battle through Freedom of Information legalisation.

The 151 page contract is still heavily redacted with the LLDC claiming commercial interests in withholding all the financial details.

As part of the publication, a three-page catering business page has also been released for 2018 and 2019.

The report reveals:” 2018 has been a busy year for Delaware North, with the continued growth of non-match day activity
alongside a successful West Ham season and concert delivery. LS185/ DN are delighted with the continued growth of spend per head sales achieved for both West Ham match days and the summer concerts. The sales achieved for West Ham event days are comparable with any premier league club and rank amongst the best in the Premier League.”

On hospitality, the report says “Hospitality has shown continued growth year on year and there has been a far greater collaborative effort amongst all stake holders to improve our offering and levels of service. The 2018/2019 West Ham season has attracted higher dining numbers than ever before with September 2018 showing year on year growth of 13.5%. Customer feedback has been very positive along with the working relationship with West ham. Currently, we are working with the club to apply some blue sky thinking to what the packages will look like for the next 3 years with the aim to take the offering to the next level.”

The Freedom of information request also reveals for the first time that the gross catering revenue from West Ham United games for the Premier League season 2017/18 was £5.16m.

I never have and never will spend anything on the catering concession at the London stadium because everything is vastly overpriced. Much better to nip into the nearby John Lewis café before the match for good quality food at a reasonable price. Even their bottled beer is cheaper than beer in the stadium.
