West Ham United’s nightmare season has taken another turn, with David Moyes‘ future hanging by a thread after a humiliating 5-0 defeat at Chelsea. While a managerial change seems inevitable, the potential appointment of Julen Lopetegui has ignited a firestorm of protest among the Hammers faithful.

It goes without saying that Moyes’ time at West Ham is likely over. The abysmal performance against Chelsea and the overall poor run of form make his position untenable.

A rift seems to have emerged between the club’s ownership and the fans regarding the managerial search. Fans reportedly favour a more ambitious manager like Ruben Amorim, who represents a fresh approach and a break from the past.

The potential appointment of Lopetegui raises serious concerns. There is a connection between Lopetegui and agent Will Salthouse, who has a history of bringing in players with ties to co-owner David Sullivan. This suggests that the choice might be driven by personal relationships rather than genuine belief in Lopetegui’s managerial abilities.

West Ham finds itself at a crossroads. The ownership seems to favour a manager with a specific connection, while the fans yearn for a more ambitious choice. This potential conflict could have serious consequences for the club’s future.

The Chairman is choosing a manager/coach in his own image , self serving, unethical ,unprincipled.
It is only a matter of time before this becomes a disaster. And guess who are the losers ?

  • Mark says:

Seems to me he is about to enter a pressure cooker and as soon as something doesn’t go to plan it will get toxic

  • Len Scannell says:

Let’s give Lopetegui a chance. He can’t possibly be worse than Moyes.

    • Ess_Bee says:

My thoughts exactly. Maybe we will get that “bounce” effect from having a new manager. I am sure Lopetugui will see that we win more than 4 games in 25. Maybe, just maybe, the players will actually play for Lopetugui and give 100% in every game.
      COYI. ⚒️⚒️⚒️

      • Peter Sharp says:

Sullivan’s track record is so terrible that it’s difficult to believe that Lopetegui is the right solution. But in the club’s interests we have to hope that it is.

    • Richard Robinson says:

Well put len.. its a joke that everyone is condemning the new manager before he steps foot into the job.. he was at Real Madrid and Spain national coach plus Bayern allegedly wanted him to replace touchel.. he can’t be a mug in my view

    • Andrew Couch says:

Now I think it was right that Moyes left at this point but a lot of managers can be and are worse than Moyes…

  • Trevsheadwonthecup says:

Lopetegui is a very good manager. As long as steitden and noble are properly on board with it . I’m happy but this club seriously needs Sullivan to take a back seat . Ideally with his shareholding vastly reduced.

  • Ian says:

Suleiman. is said to be an outstanding business man. so it’s no wonder he is swayed by LOPETEGUI ‘S. application. . he is on the dole ( no extra cost there. !) and has. a. House in England. ( saves on. removal expenses) = A. DONE. DEAL .? .

  • Billy says:

Moyes has been undermined all season and is being forced out to all intents and purposes. Despite what anyone thinks of Moyes we can’t deny he has been successful for the most part so Lopertegui is going to have to deliver simple as that otherwise things are going to turn toxic pretty quickly as far as Sullivan is concerned.

  • Jack E4 says:

Given our defensive woes this season it may not be all bad getting a defence minded coach in. As long as he, Steidten and Noble can work together on rebuilding our squad, I’m confident brighter days are ahead. He’ll have a decent base to work with and I think that will include Paquetá. The FA have been unable to prove misconduct, so they’ll probably drag their heels out of spite.

  • Bonzo says:

If Lopetegui wants to play a possession based passing game he better get some new players in coz our bunch can’t pass the ball for toffee.

  • Basvegas says:

I will back Loppy and hopefully so does Tim with finding the players we need, but God forbid if it turns into a **** show and I start hearing the ‘bring back Moyes’ brigade piping up!

  • Graham W says:

We had a chance at qualifying for Europe this year. Yet again a manager left to wind down his contract and yet again a season ends in a damp squib. Moses should have been backed until he was sacked.

The chairman and board have shown no respect for the club and have shown they only care about the profit and loss. Yet another year lost to bean counting.

    • Bob says:

65 years I’ve supported West Ham, but nolonger if the rumours are true and we are taking on the Wolves loser. Do us all a favour Sullivan, and sell the club.
You haven’t got a clue, and take Brady with you. Relegation next season, you heard it here first.

  • Legend of the Arctic says:

I just don’t understand the point of hiring a manager who has all the same weaknesses as David Moyes. Aging, defensive minded, clashes with co-workers. Honestly should just keep Moyes if this is the only other guy willing to take the job.

  • Hammer says:

Be great if he can teach our players to press. We always give too much room to the opposition. Also to pass fast and not wander around with the ball then lose it.

If he don’t bring some of our youth through we will lose them. We have potentially the best under 21 and yet Moyes used to get them to just warm the seats.

  • Mark Jones says:

It might all hinge on who leaves and who arrives from players. If JL can get Sullivan to buy the right replacements for Aguerd/Cressie/Zouma/Johnson/Ogbonna/Coufal/Soucek/Antonio/Ings (and a few more), then maybe our defence will stop shipping goals and a new striker/forward(or2) can score some goals.
I have doubts but we will see.

  • John simmonds says:

Well he’s brought him in it (would seem)
If it all goes t*** up he’ll be 100% in the firing line. Nowhere to hide this time Sully. Whatever happens on the pitch off the pitch and behind the scenes is all down to you now. Hope you don’t need a tin hat. But I fear you will. Your choice. You own it

  • West Ham Fan no 32 says:

Let’s see what he can do before prejudging, Amorim was never coming, he used us to prompt Liverpool, why would he give up Champions League for mediocrity?

I would have preferred a younger manager like Amorim or DeZerbi, Potter or McKenna from Ipswich but they are not on the agenda so will keep an open mind and hope he can get our team to play more attacking football, COYI !!!

  • Paapi says:

I feel this can turn out to be a really good signing. His time in Sevilla has shown how well he can do if backed with proper resources (and given ample time to prove). Probably the reason why he left Wolves because he was not getting the required backing.
To be fair to moyes, his players were shipped off with no proper reinforcements despite Europa league and Euorpean qualification in contention. Sad how things turned out with him, but doesn’t take away the best of times he has given us in recent memory

  • Tezzard says:

Cheapskate choice from cheapskate number 1 .

As mentioned , Sullivan overrules his director on this , so he better be ready for the reaction if this appointment sinks .

    Nowhere to hide
