Following Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville’s exits, Freddie Potts and now possibly El Hadji Malik Diouf, this feels as if it may only be the opening act in what some insiders are now calling a full-scale purge at West Ham.
That’s not including Lukasz Fabianski, Adama Traore, Callum Wilson, Lucas Paqueta (in January), Callum Marshall and Axel Disasi (loan ended).
The club’s summer rebuild is accelerating, and speculation is rife that several more names could find themselves edging towards the door.
Despite the club stating they wanted to keep their core players, managing to persuade club legend Jarrod Bowen to remain for at least one season, should the club not get promotion, with the transfer window slamming shut on September 3rd, the club are bracing themselves for substantial offers for a number of other players.
Magassa Highly Likely To Leave
When we asked one well-placed transfer source, they confirmed that one player who is highly likely to leave is Soungoutou Magassa, who hasn’t cemented a regular first-team space under Nuno, with West Ham open to offers.
Galatasaray and Eintracht Frankfurt have both been linked over recent weeks. The French player, aged 22, had the potential to add real flexibility to the squad, capable of operating both at centre-back and in central midfield. But all signs now point toward an imminent split between player and club.
This should mean that at least two central midfielders are being targeted as replacements, given Freddie Potts has also departed.
And then there’s the so-called “bomb squad”: Niclas Füllkrug, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jean-Clair Todibo, all of whom remain firmly on the chopping block.

Nuno Desperate To Keep Mavropanos
Within the core list of players, Dinos Mavropanos, last year’s Hammer of the Year, is wanted by a number of clubs. Nuno is desperate to keep him.
Taty Castellanos is another player that is wanted elsewhere. Leeds United, Fulham, Everton and AC Milan are all reportedly interested, which is why the club are looking at several strikers as cover.
It will take big-money offers for either player to depart, yet every player has their price.
Rebuild Or Relegation Fire Sale?
Should all these players depart, that takes the number to a sixteen-player exodus, a number so brutal it stops being a rebuild and starts looking like supporters were sold a fantasy.
And you’re right to feel it: those of us who renewed our season tickets were told about “continuity”, “core players”, “stability”, yet the club have quietly overseen a turnover that resembles a relegation fire-sale rather than a promotion push.
With the difficulty of replacing all these players, there is a fine balance, and despite all the transfer noise, it remains to be seen if such a fire sale occurs, and in all likelihood there will be players on that list that simply will be staying for at least a season in England’s second tier.
For now, fans will be hoping to read about incoming players instead of low-ball bids, and names of those that nearly signed yet didn’t!

This uncertainty doesn’t do anything for fans or players.
Trying to get Disasi back hardly gives him any confidence.
Buying Solomon who has terrible injury history and then adding Nelson for cover, also injury prone, makes no sense.
Amount of players linked to be sold is frightening.
All looked promising on incoming but with whu low-balling and dithering it’s gone into reverse.
How must Bowen feel about Kretinsky promises about keeping players.
This transfer window needed to be right can see Nuno gone by Christmas if not before.
Koppen will be joining him as he’s been a non entity up to now.
Bid for 21 year old player is not acceptable and he would probably go to academy.
Whu are just not keeping their part of the agreement and fans will be up in arms.
Selling players and putting money in kitty without buying replacements will not see premier league next year.
The fan base deserves an update from the club informing them of what is actually going on, on all levels.
I like Magassa but Nuno clearly doesn’t so we may as well sell if we can get £20m for him.
Kante is not dissimilar in style and has more directness we also have Orford and Alvarez if we can get Engels then we have a lot of variety in CDM.
Todibo will also need to go and Fullkrug which will release a lot of salary.
Will caveat all these messages in that we better sign quality replacements.
Good squad player but could earthy and Orford do the sane job? If Good offer comes in take it
The concern is that Magassa can cover central defence and Diouf can cover left wing, but more than that what will Taty, Bowen and Dinos think about all these players leaving and being replaced with free transfers and £5m punts

There’s something fundamentally wrong, we’re aside that constantly defends too deep and narrow, unable to press as a team, concedes majority possession to mediocre oppersition, allows far to many crosses put eleven players in our six yard box at corners, can’t move forward unless we’ve passed side ways a dozen times, unable to pass accurately when moving forward. The players individually are OK, but as a team its not working. Our next signing Eddie Howe.
What kind of deals did bowen and nuno sign that has them standing idley by and watching the team being torn apart .
i think peeps need to make their minds up Matt , i’ve not got anything against Soungoutou Magassa and no doubt he’d add real flexibility and cover to the squad but that was not utilised in the 2nd half of last season and he really didn’t seem to get very much game time , there’s lots of articles on this site and many others saying that we need to give our youth a chance i.e. Orford , Earthy , Kante etc. , so how will they all fit in if we purchase/target at least another two central midfielders as replacement considering we still have the experience of Soucek , Ward-Prowse , Alvarez on the books ? i think Orford , Earthy , Kante etc. are getting beyond the stage of going out on loan to a club especially if it’s in a league lower than the one in which we are currently residing ? x
Anyone who didn’t think this would happen was fooling themselves. Even if the club doesn’t want to sell it’s hard to keep players that can play in bigger leagues.
So the combination of a club that will sell at a price and players that want leave and here we are. Remember last time?
Everyone left except the rubbish ones only the injured Carrick stayed and Defoe just to thrash his very early leaving plan. Then they left soon after.
Even if the money was real, which now seems in doubt because of the ownership battle, relegation is always a total disaster.

The lad is just about half decent and will find his level in the Championship.
