Manchester United have stepped up their interest in West Ham youngster Domingos Quina, with scouts watching the 17-year-old score for Portugal under-19s against Spain this week, sources have told ESPN.
Quina joined West Ham last year after spending three years with Chelsea’s academy.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain all previously considered a move for Quina before he signed for West Ham, but with the midfielder yet to commit to a long-term future to West Ham the Red Devils have stepped up their scouting of him.
Quina’s current deal doesn’t expire 2019 but West Ham are keen to tie him down to a long-term deal.
He has made two senior appearances for West Ham this season, both as a late substitute in Carabao Cup ties and spent 19 times on the bench last season. In the Summer he was linked to a move to PSG and was on the verge of joining Sheffield United on loan until a deal collapsed.
PSG wanted him over summer which I’d prefer to keep all our youngsters but I was sutpiser we sold Dobson over summer.
Quina is I think our Highest paid youngest players at 17 making £10 a WK more than Rice Cullen Burke Ox makes around the same or more.
Could u imagine that money at 17 let alone in my 30s .
I think Rice is a must keep have to get him on new contract & I think Quina as a bright future but wouldnt be surprised if they sold him if £10m or so was offered.
I hope we don’t sell any esp in Jan.
