Joao Mario set the Hammers on their way to almost certain safety against Leicester but remains highly unlikely to become a permanent signing this summer.
Inter Milan are holding out for around £25 million for the midfielder and the Hammers don’t believe he is worth that sort of fee.
And should David Moyes remain in charge of the club he is looking for a more athletic midfielder although one option will be to push Declan Rice forward after buying a couple of strong central defenders.
Mario meanwhile is enjoying the moment declaring of yesterday’s game: “It was a huge game for us, an important game, and we knew before that only three points would be good enough for us.
“So the team produced an amazing performance and I’m very happy because it was a massive win.
“We played very well, with big personality. It’s never easy when you play away against a tough team, so I have to congratulate the team because we played a really good game.”
He was delighted with Mark Noble’s amazing goal too saying: “Mark shoots really well from outside the box and I’m really happy for him because it’s an important moment not just for West Ham, but for him, so I’m happy for him.
“We also talked about our defending. We pressed well, we defended well and high up. It was important to us, the team have been talking about the problems and on Saturday it was resolved and it made all the difference.”
