Massive moment for Hammers women

|

West Ham are heavily promoting the first ever womens’ match to be played at the London Stadium …and quite right too!

There’s always a danger that after the excitement and drama of the World Cup, during the summer, memories can fade and it’s good that the club is doing its best to keep the momentum going.

The club has probably pushed the womens’ game more than any other and the BBC programme ‘Britain’s Youngest Boss’ was a useful platform along with the team’s appearance in the Cup Final last season of course.

That the club has chosen Spurs as their opponents for the game tells its own story and gives a chance for the supporters to involve in one of our favourite pastimes – giving the north Londoners some stick and our girls a huge boost by turning up in numbers.

The match goes ahead on Sunday September 29 and Netherlands international Tessel Middag knows what it’s like to walk out in front of thousands of supporters in some of the world’s largest stadiums.

She  told https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/august/28-august/middag-historic-london-stadium-clash-huge-opportunity“It’s absolutely brilliant for me personally, and everyone in the team and on the staff are really looking forward to it.

We want to be unbeatable at home, and that is especially true for when we come to London Stadium too.

“I played at the Ajax men’s team stadium once, and I’ve played in some big stadiums at an international level too. I have some experience of big stadiums and it always brings something extra to the game. The whole experience is just amazing.

“London Stadium is a beautiful, impressive, modern stadium and it holds a proper West Ham atmosphere. We can’t wait!”

Claret Members and Season Ticket Holders can purchase their being able to purchase their tickets now at just £1 for adults and for free for Under 16s.

In addition, all supporters who secure a ticket before 20 September will be entered into a prize draw to win a mascot place for this fixture.
