West Ham’s transfer window could shift from ‘good’ towards ‘great’ this weekend with a dose of double good news reported to be more than likely.
The capture of midfield talent Arne Engels is now odds-on and due to be announced ahead of the Burnley fixture, and will hopefully then be followed by even better news of the Hammers’ next addition to the squad.
According to those in the know, Troy Parrott’s transfer to West Ham is still very much alive and kicking – despite reports to the contrary.
Will West Ham be prepared to show real ambition and get the Parrott deal done? ‘Ex’ says yes.
That’s the claim from exWHUEmployee this Saturday, suggesting that the recent fears over Real Betis‘ reported late entry for the Republic of Ireland striker is something of a red herring:
“Troy Parrott deal is still very much on despite rumours of Real Betis being on the brink of signing him…if Betis were in for him, he probably would have chosen them over us…. Betis likely doesn’t have the kind of money we have to take a risk on a player that expensive and unproven at the top level.
It seems like we’re the only team seriously in for Parrott, and a deal could happen for a fee of around £25 million. The Irishman has been left out of the AZ squad for this weekend with a ‘knock’, but I think we know what that really means.”
On top of the solid signings of Joel Veltman and Manor Solomon, the double delight of bringing both Engels and Parrott to West Ham would cause a sigh of relief amongst every one of those 50,000 season ticket holders who signed up more in hope than expectation:”Hope” having been in especially short supply this summer as the turbulent after shocks of relegation and boardroom crisis have threatened to overwhelm the Hammers’ plans for a Championship push.
It’d also be something of a triumph for Nils Koppen who has had his credibility on the line ever since he stepped into the hot seat at London Stadium. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves and wait for the photos of the duo in their new Hammers kit to appear before too much back slapping. This is West Ham, after all.
I never thought I’d see the day when West Ham would finally give up on finding a proper striker and buy a 24 year old Parrot instead!
