Transfer news: More striker frustration for Irons

|

RaulWest Ham’s hunt for a new striker has taken another frustrating twist when loan target Raul Jiminez had a last minute change of heart about joining the club.

After taking several days to make his mind up between the Irons on loan, or Benfica on a five-year deal, it seemed the Irons had a great chance of landing their man.

A source close to the deal revealed West Ham had received a call from Atletico Madrid explaining that the player would be on a flight to London in order to sign for the club.

But, shortly after midnight, a member of the player’s advisory team rang again to say that Jimenez had changed his mind and had opted to sign for the Portugese side.

Our source explained: “Frustrating doesn’t begin to sum it up! But the thing is done now and he is joining the Portuguese.

“The club is hunting high and low and have several names on their target list but the prices are silly and it’s a very tough call.”

Nothing lost, move on… keep saying it “sign Sow £12m”

      Who?

Agree Essex.Wouldn’t waste time on Adebayor either.I thought the spuds boss Levy wouldn’t do any deals with WHU anyway? Never mind Cole is training at Chadwell Heath. We wait agonizingly every day for a quality striker that invariably won’t happen knowing the owners track record and penny pinching ways.

  • COYI@HK Ching says:

His goal record in La Liga is far from appealing. Let’s hope for a better striker coming in.

Moussa Sow plays for Fenerbache 52 goals in 102 games

Once again, in his latest interview, Slav. Gives his standard response when asked about transfers…”one, maybe two more players” but no particular emphasis on a striker and certainly no indication the club is looking to spend a gob of money for one. Interestingly, Slav brought up for the first time limited funds and said if we don’t sign anymore players, he is not worried
Hazarding a guess, I would say the owners point of view could be “we have two strikers who cost around 30 million and with one of them on the verge of returning from injury, we should be able to wait for the second one to return, without buying yet another high priced replacement.
Then again, it may be what has been obvious from day 1 of Slav’s tenure, in that he has directed virtually all his attention (and cash) on quality midfielders both defensive and attack minded and believes himself, that a team that just took Arsenal to the cleaners doesn’t need to go Into a panic buy and should be more than cable of keeping us in the plus side until both our two injured strikers are back

I don’t take much notice of what is said in interviews. A new striker of some sort will be signed b4 deadline day. Maybe a short term loan or freebie but cover is needed, only takes a injury or two & then we would be in the same position as last season. Even when AC comes back he wont be playing 90 mins straight away.

I suppose the catch 22 is we buy no one and the injury hoodoo strikes again leaving us with only Maiga or we buy big(ish) and all strikers remain fit vying for possibly one spot on the pitch and at most two on the bench. The other question is what role he sees Enner playing up front or wide. We’re now lucky because we have a top man to make those decisions so chill out and enjoy the ride.

  • SA Bubbles says:

Hi guys all these strikers we linked with im not happy about. Don’t think these boys would give there heart and soul for WEST HAM . I want us to buy a good old English lad, heres 5 names I think would be fantastic for us. JORDAN RHODES. CHRIS MARTIN. GARY HOOPER .JAMES VARDY. JAMES WILSON.

    • essexclarets says:

Don’t want to sound negative here but I wouldn’t want any of them. Not good enough. If we really want to challenge for cups/europe we need a strong squad so we need players who are pushing for first team action, which will make everyone fight to keep their place.
Sounds easy if you say it quickly ;-D

  • bubs says:

Just sign someone who wants to play has not got Prima Doña views,
    Anchibee WBA, Mitchu Swansea,Negrado,Valencia,
All want to play football 2 will not cost a lot one on loan
Then spend the rest of the window trying to get Austin or Hanandez,
Let Lee go on loan pay off Magia
Sell Jarvis and Alfitano and pick up a new winger,
If Nolan is happy playing. Bit part let him see out his contract if not let him bite the bullit
    We should be set then
If Song or any others go through great if not great

  • SA Bubbles says:

The Hernandez deal wont happen ,we wasting our time with him. That guy is holding out for Champions league football. Charlie Austin fantastic player but QPR is made in the head if they think we will pay R15 Million for a guy that’s only got 1 year left on his contract.

  • SA Bubbles says:

And bubs what u forgetting is its not only the transfer of the player its his wages aswell. Negrado is a great player but not a grafter. his the old fashion striker that wants the ball to come to him. Under SAM YES but not under BILIC.

  • Roman says:

Allardyce is at it again. Now he claims we are an ungrateful lot at West Ham.Give me strength.

  • SA Bubbles says:

WHY u say those guys ant good enough essexclarets ? Sometimes i think the fans forget how far we have come since the owners took over, Money don’t grow on Trees . We already got 4 fantastic strikers we dont need another WOULD CLASS STRIKER just somebody that’s got a good eye for goal and pace that’s not going to cost as the world.

  • SA Bubbles says:

And Roman u miss understood what I was trying to say. Negrado game would not suit BILLIC style. But it would of suited SAM that’s why we tried to sign him a few years ago. Don’t be so quick on the trigger next time. I think BILLIC is a fantastic Manager and im very glad his with us. Just making point about Negrado.

    • Roman says:

Sorry SA Bubbles I was only banging on about Allardyce. You are right about Negrado.Looks like Claret & Hugh have caught on about Sam’s outburst regarding owners being ungrateful. Cheerz!

      • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Negredo is a player that could easilly replace Carroll he would score more goals, create more for his team mates and is less injury prone, there must be something going on behind the scenes with him that is stopping clubs showing any interest because he is being openly marketed and no one has put any bids in.

  • SA Bubbles says:

No problem Roman , atleast we both agree BILLIC is the man to take us forward. Cant wait for the next match , COME ON YOU IRONS.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Just saw on Sky that Hull are looking to loan Adel Hernandez to Torino, I thought he looked pretty good last season for them, I wonder whether he would be a good loan option for us ?
