Morrison’s clumsy ‘January’ hint

|

ravel-morrison-west-ham-united_3010039Ravel Morrison last night dropped a clumsy hint that he’s back on his travels (aren’t you glad we have Manu Lanzini!)

After being an unused sub in Lazio’s the Europa League clash he posted a one word tweet – “January” in the usual enigmatic style.

He had been expected to play in the match against Rosenberg – from which Lazio emerged as 3-1 winners – but had  apparently felt an injury the day before.

Frustrated Morrison heard Lazio director Igli Tare explain how good he when he said: “We hadn’t predicted so many changes to the line-up, but are forced to rotate the squad again today.

“Morrison has undoubted quality and is world class, as well as being talked about and a little ‘mad.’ We really like him, but yesterday he had a fitness problem.

“He was in the running to start in place of Stefano Mauri, but didn’t train and as a precaution will be on the bench. Maybe he’ll come on during the game.”

And to think how much we sang his name after THAT goal against THAT team…

Hmmm….I am a Morrison supporter, even though he has driven people to distraction. Matt Etherington said he was one of the most gifted players he’d seen. The Sullivan ‘Kids’ said they would love to see him back. I was hoping, for the sake of England too, that he had matured out of his stupid ways….BUT…dearie me, maybe a leopard just CAN’T change his spots. I still believe the lad, and that he will play a big part one day one way or another…but he must PROVE he will not mess up group harmony 1st!…and meanwhile, yes, we have Lanzini and Payet, who I think are just getting started!

History is riddled with supremely gifted players that never live up to the promise they show. Look on it this way; if Ferguson couldn’t keep him on the straight and narrow, given the mix of loyalty and fear he instilled in his players, then who can? We need people we can rely on, and in Lanzini and Payet (at least up to now) it looks like we have a pair…
