David Moyes has confirmed that West Ham are interested in signing midfielder Steven N’Zonzi in the January transfer window.
The player is reported to have a £35m release clause. The midfield is a position Moyes has said he wants to strengthen and William Carvalho and Bournemouth’s Harry Arter have also been linked in recent weeks.
But Moyes has admitted that former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City midfielder N’Zonzi, who wants to leave Sevilla, is a West Ham winter target.
“I think he’s somebody who would be of interest to us if he came on the market,” said Moyes. “I wouldn’t say that about others, but he’s not playing for some reason at Sevilla – albeit the manager’s gone, so maybe that changes the situation there. Overall, it’s not something I can say I’ve done anything with.”
N’Zonzi arrived at Gatwick airport this week to try to arrange a move away from Sevilla.
Can’t see this coming off, there’s no way we’d blow our entire budget on a defensive midfielder. I can see him going to Arsenal.
