Moyes delivers Bowen/Rice update

|

David Moyes has confirmed that Jarrod Bowen has not made the trip to Spain to play Sevilla but he has revealed that Declan Rice is set to play.

The winger limped out of the encounter against Liverpool at the weekend and is not fit enough to take on the Liga side.

Rice, by comparison, missed out on the fixture against Liverpool due to illness but is set to be fit for the game against Sevilla, with Moyes confirming that he will be in the starting XI against the Spanish club.

Bowen, of course, has been central to our exceptional form this season and his absence will undoubtedly be a blow.

But the return of Rice is likely to give the Hammers a real chance at beating the brilliant Spanish side, who are currently second in La Liga.

Speaking ahead of the game on Thursday, as per Football.London, the Hammers boss said: “He (Rice) trained today for the first time. He was very unwell but he is with us and if fit and available he will certainly play.

“It [missing Bowen] will limit us as Jarrod has an X factor.

“He has been in good form the last two to three months it will not change us a great deal but we are missing an important player.”
