Moyes set for stormy media grilling

|

David Moyes is set for a stormy Friday lunchtime showdown with reporters as he hosts his first pre-match press conference of the new season.

The manager will join a Zoom call at 1.30pm with journalists determined to get to the bottom – as they see it – of what’s going on at the club.

The 57-year-old gave no post match interviews after the Betway Cup defeat by Bournemouth but is contractually obliged to speak the press before and after Premier League games.

It is the first time he has faced the press since Grady Diangana left the club to join West Brom in a £18m.

That was followed by Mark Noble’s comments on social media and a back lash from supporters . With no new additions following the departure of Pablo Zabaleta, Carlos Sanchez, Jeremy Ngkia, Albion Ajeti, Jordon Hugill in addition to Diang from the first team squad. the manager is in for a bumpy ride ahead of the Newcastle game.

A serious press grilling on all these subjects is on the cards with the club having cmapled down hard onn press leaks since the Diangana affair broke.

It remains to be seen whether he will tackle them head on or duck the difficult ones.

Whilst the owners hide in the background???
Everyone knows all the answers lay with the owners, it would make more sense that GSB should hold a press briefing.

Lots of forward defensive strokes I think.

I believe they will come out with at least one signing by the press conference in Friday – however whatever transpires, the silence has been deafening. DM and crew have obviously been told to keep quiet since last weekend, however such a move from the owners just sjow how out of touch they are with the fans. As I’ve said in previous comments and posts, I was never against the owners and appreciate what they’ve done for the club. However this last week has been totally unacceptable in terms of the silence that has only made matters worse. Niave behaviour at the very best but total disrespect to all the fans. I certainly won’t jump on the bandwagon of all the negatives out there claiming we’re getting relegated. It’s clear we need signings for our poor defence of course, but we still have the core of the squad that played the last several games of last season – unfortunately injuries will occur and then we will be majorly depleted. My expectation a month ago was a top 7/8 finish but now I think top 12 is where we’ll be. That certainly is not good enough but this all comes down to the owners rather than DM. I still have every faith in DM and co, however if the owners continue on this path I do fear that he will move on sooner rather than have the required time to build something great. Friday’s conference should be an interesting session and I do feel for Moysey…he’s a better guy then me as if I had been put in that position I would’ve told GSB to go a **** themselves.
