David Moyes has set his first-choice defensive midfielders a target of ten goals each this season.
Tomas Soucek scored ten goals in 38 last season and has already scored one this season from seven.
Declan Rice scored two league goals last season and has already scored two in the Europa League although he is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League.
Asked whether the manager expected Rice to score more goals this season Moyes said it would be great if Rice and Soucek could score 10 goals each.
He told reporters that the moment Declan is slightly in front but I think that Tomas with his aerial power will get us goals as the season goes on.
He added that “Declan has different abilities, he has got a shooting ability and other attributes which will get him goals as well. So I’m actually hoping that we ended up with two midfielders with good goal numbers this season.”
