Moyes tied to Hammers as Everton link creates concern

|

CandH Exclusive

David Moyes is under contract at West Ham for another year which negates any serious chance of him returning to Everton with Carlo Ancelotti seemingly on his way to Real Madrid.

Speculation has been rife that the Hammers boss could easily become the favourite to replace the departing Italian but the Hammers consider that not even the remotest of possibilities.

Currently, the Hammerers have agreed a three year deal with the Scot ahead of an imminent announcement.

But various media outlets have been attempting to shock us all by describing the possibility as far more likely than in reality it can be.

We understand that with another year on his deal, Moysie would have to break that if he were to seriously want to make an Everton return.

And a key insider told Candh exclusively: “He is under contract, on his old contract, for another year and we’d not release him.

He’s verbally agreed a new three year contract as well and more importantly he’s a very honourable man and I can’t see him breaking a contract.”

Any idea when Moyes is due to actually sign the contract he’s agreed, Hugh?

Do you think Moyes will forget being passed over for Pellegrini having sorted us out last time? Given the challenge of living away from his family if Everton promise him a proper budget then the fact he has a one year deal to break is appealing from his perspective. Not sure honour has existed in football since Mooro was held to his contract in late 60’s. I hope he stays but he owes us nothing having kept us up twice and led us to a record points tally in his one full season. I hope GSB recognise his value and back him.

Came here to make exactly the same point about Moyes perhaps holding a small grudge for how his contract wasn’t renewed in 2018. If so, do we similarly get payback from Rafa for when Sullivan allowed him out of the contract he’d signed with the Irons to go to Real Madrid? I expect Moshiri has deeper pockets than GSB in terms of offer and in terms of buying players. Hopefully the prospect of unfinished business at West Ham and the Europa League next season will be enough to persuade Moyes to stay. Having been one of the doubters when he was first (re-)appointed, I’d be devastated to see him leave now. Big risk for him too – he doesn’t exactly have a great short-term track record since leaving Everton, and who’s to say he can relive the (relative) glory days at Goodison? With that and the ongoing Rice and Lingard sagas, it’s going to be an interesting summer!

I’m not to sure, it’s as stone cold he will sign for us. I think Everton could have at least some legs in it. I mean unfortunately for us he was treated poorly by our owners letting him go, so he really owes us nothing. And he could see this as an opportunity to be closer to his family. But he seems like a honourable man, so I hope it’s announced soon that he signed for us.
