Mystery of Adama Boiro solved after West Ham fans seek answers

The summer signing who has hardly laced up his boots for West Ham United this season is defender Adama Boiro. The deadline day signing, a loanee from Athletic Club in La Liga joined as Nuno and Nils Koppen frantically tried to add defensive options with El Hadji-Malick Diouf leaving just days before the window closed.

And yet, the left back hasn’t been seen since – apart from thirteen minutes as a substitute against Derby County.

Which, considering he’s a veteran of the Europa League and has six Champions League games under his belt, is surprising to say the least.

Brazilian Morato had seemingly made the left back slot his own after decent performances – until his brainless Millwall loss of discipline with his on-pitch confrontation that led to a yellow card – suggested that there might be room for Scarles or indeed Boiro to get back in contention for the shirt

Indeed, the mystery surrounding Boiro’s absence since the Derby game seems to have been cleared up by a report in today’s Sportwitness:

“…Since [The Derby game] he hasn’t featured for West Ham United, and Nuno Espírito Santo left him out of the squad for the last two Championship matches.

This led to suggestions in the British media that the manager doesn’t favour Adama Boiro, and Deia, after relaying this, wastes no time to dismiss the English clubs.

The newspaper makes it clear it’s their own information and reports that the defender arrived at the international break with a ‘minor injury’. This prevented him from playing for the London club in recent weeks.”

Which opens the way for the Senegalese defender to re-enter the fray as a bona fide left back – which in turn would free up Morato to play as a decent centre – back option. Happy days.
