Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Samir Nasri was due to play in the second half of the Chelsea V West Ham Monday night game but suffered an unfortunate injury during his warm up.
Pellegrini told reporters post-match when he was questioned: “Samir Nasri was going to start in the second half, but in the warm-up he felt a muscle injury in his calf and wasn’t confident to play.”
Asked how serious the injury was the manager said “We’ll see tomorrow. I can’t say”
The Frenchman suffered a calf injury in the 66th minute during the 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth in January making his return in late February against Manchester City. He played two games again in March during the 2-0 defeat against Cardiff and the 4-3 win over Huddersfield.
West Ham also saw the withdraw of Michail Antonio from the matchday squad, he suffered a minor ankle knock in training which forced him to pull out of the squad.
