New forecast should make worrying reading for West Ham United’s board – whoever they are

Knee jerk reactions after one bad performance aren’t Daniel Kretinsky ‘s style. The Czech Sphinx hasn’t made his billions without taking sensible, considered business decisions and the manner with which he circumvented Amanda Staveley’s takeover bid in the summer shows the inscrutable Hammers shareholder has lost none of his business wizardry.

However, there are a few thousand supporters now scratching their heads with zero news out of West Ham towers for weeks and weeks over the identity of the occupants of the boardroom and the club’s shareholder composition after the Gold family shares have been sold off.

It isn’t good enough.

It matters to West Ham fans and they deserve to know exactly where Kretinsky, Sullivan and Gold, along with other directors and shareholders, now fit into the club ownership pyramid.

Whoever is now in situ in the new look West Ham boardroom needs to start taking a good look at the OPTA forecasts that are starting to show a drift away from an ‘easy’ promotion for this West Ham side.

Nuno Espírito Santo watches West Ham players during pre-season training ahead of the friendly against Southend

Who is holding Nuno to account?

A manager who is on a Premier League multi-million pound package should not get away with delivering anything other than excellence. Who is holding him to account right now?

Seeing the Irons now forecast to scrape through as runners up, having been deposed from top spot in the latest ‘supercomputer’ (I hate that word) predictions by Middlesborough, a team with a fraction of the Irons 60,000 regular attendance and whose manager probably earns 25% of Nuno’s package should start the board – whoever that might be – asking some pointed questions of their chosen manager.

Had any of them turned up to the last game they’d have heard the boos ringing out loud and clear at London Stadium. The lack of clarity over the composition of the West Ham board, and indeed, the mystery of who is running the show sounds very much like a board asleep at the wheel which is the last message a new board should try and put across.

All of which is most definitely not what 55,000 fans expected or hoped for when they renewed their season tickets in good faith. They deserve to know what the outcome of all the summer chicanery behind the scenes accomplished and who, exactly is running ‘our’ football club.

We’re waiting.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Curse you Shaun Wright-Phillips.
I still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows another six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser.
Can tell I'm getting old knowing I watched both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old.
Magic.

Only here for the football and good company. Could not care less about financial facts and corporate figures in the distant background.

If Fleetwood can do it, there is hope for us.

Now, back to my pension tax crisis.

Why can’t you put this question to one of your ITK’s at West Ham Martin?
