New name in the Hammers frame

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is another name who has apparently been discussed as a possible replacement for Manuel Pellegrini.

According to the Mirror the 52 year old Blades boss has been discussed inside the club after his promotion from the Championship and now  holding down sixth place in the Premier League.

The team were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Manchester United yesterday taking their points tally to 18.

The Blades were a team  from whom we really should have taken three of our own rather than one in the recent London Stadium 1-1 draw.

But we understand that whilst – like most – the Irons have been impressed with Wilder’s performance thus far, they would not be ready to make an approach for him at this stage.

They believe he would need to show sustained form over a long er period of time in the Premier League before making any sort of move for him.

  1. Why would he even want to leave Sheff Utd for us? He’s a boyhood fan of theirs and they are flying with some decent investment behind them. It’s arrogance to think he’s want to come us.

But we need to get beyond this “experience” nonsense. It’s time to take a risk.

  2. Sorry but I can’t for the life of me see how we can attract a manager of a PL club that is doing well. But the type of football they play is exactly how I think we’ve could stabilise our position. An English speaking manager (this is a communication issue not a prejudice ). Committed players. A genuine team spirit. A team you can be proud of, not ashamed of. Determined tackling. Endless running. Never say die. Can you imagine our players if they were 3-2 down after leading 2-0 fighting back for a draw?

Rather than throw unrealistic names around I think the owners should start with that as the template & then start looking for managers who might be able to fit the bill. I think we might have to look in the lower divisions, but then that is where Wilder was until recently.

My problem now is I have no faith in the owners to make ANY big decisions, or even to know which questions they should be asking.

  3. dyche from burnley 100 per cent

  4. Agree strongly with above. Benitez is probably waiting for Arsenal or even Everton given his connections to the region. Additionally, any incoming manager knows the compo for Pelle will come out of any transfer/wage budget, leaving us scrabbling for **** loans in Jan again,

  5. Why would anyone listen to the mirror they have always been full of crap

  6. I reckon it’s best to go for a younger manager. One name I don’t see mentioned is Scott Parker. Doing well at Fulham and knows what the. Lib is about.

  7. Dyche would 100% sort us out but its not very inspiring and realisticly how far could he take us
And what sort of. Players would he attract and whats his policy on youth

Howe we would becoming a fighting team again and play football but his defensive work isnt the best and thats our problem area

Is poch and kovac being considered i know both are well out of our league but are we still trying maybe there is a chance if we dont try but yet neither seem to even be a possability

  8. What IS being demonstrated is that we do not need to look too far for a coach (or player!) who is actually SUITED to our club.

If/when owners replace their illusions of grandeur with more realistic desires, then, and only then, might we ever experience what we actually deserve.

It is sad that, when making these comments, we feel the need to apologise in case they are deemed xenophobic.

  9. Lee Bowyer is another who should be in with a shout. He’s done great things with Charlton since he took over. Have a word with Josh to see what he thinks of him as a manager… And he knows and has played for the club…

  10. Chris Hughton would suit me just fine as our next manager.I wanted Moyes to get the job on a full time basis before Pellegrini was brought in..He has a strong connection with the club as an ex player and whatever you may think about his style of play, you can bet your bottom dollar he would not have tolerated that lot on Saturday strolling around as if on some May Day promenade. The club needs some British backbone putting back into it and a manager with a bark and some emotion.getting this team to start grafting for their pay or getting rid.Problem with a lot of our fans is they want this certain style of play we all hark back to but at the end of the day the thing we will not tolerate is a team that trudges off the pitch and has not put a shift in.The managers mentioned Howe,Dyche,Wilder and Hughton have one thing in common.Hard working teams who cover each others backs.

  11. Really don’t understand why Pelligrini hasn’t been given his marching orders . It can only be due to Money . The sooner we say goodbye the better . Too many years now watching my Club from childhood to Adulthood with no success in any shape or form . I was hoping to see this morning that he has gone . But no , the board are still undecided . Amazing after so much promise of a brighter future . We were full of enthusiasm at the start. , but since fielding that rediculous to lose League Cup side I lost all faith in a manager that doesn’t understand us . Please leave .

  12. Hughtons football at Brighton was dull as he’ll.
    Good man but no thanks.

  13. Come on. Be serious. We can’t have some dull northerner in charge either. Not exactly box office is he.
If we’re going to have a northerner then it can only be Kevin Nolan.
