New twist in Arnie saga – all to become clear in 24 hours

|

Marko Arnautovic looks set for a move to China after both the player and club revealed this afternoon there has been a new development in the on/off saga.

The player has posted on his Instagram account that there will be news “very soon” on his situation and ClaretandHugh sources inside the club confirmed to us by e mail there has been a development although at this point they are remaining tight lipped on precisely what.

A very senior  Hammers source told us by e mail: “Arnautovic  is not in the squad tomorrow, but something has happened and we expect everything to become clear over the next 24 hours.”

As CandH  has regularly indicated that despite widespread reports that the deal was dead it always seemed likely that there would be a further twist before the transfer window closed.

That the club have chosen to admit there is a fresh development suggests the move is likely to be  on.

However, the player is such an unpredictable individual that there remains a  possibility that he could have done a U-turn – unlikely though that seems – and will stay at the club!

Meanwhile we have learned that the Irons have named their price for Marko and will not take a penny less than €50 million (£45m) for the maverick striker.

Lets hope we get Maxi Gomez in, someone 22 years old with what looks like a great future in the game, with a Chilean manager, Paraguayan, Mexican and Argentinian with possibly a Uruguayan incoming we can build a real fanbase in South America, we can nickname the LS the Samba Stadium, maybe get some Mariachi bands in to liven the place up hahaha

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

As long as the price is right for us, the I wish him all the best with his move. Let’s get Gomez in, partner him with the experienced Hernandez and soon enough, Arnie will be distant pleasant memory.

  • Hammerkip says:

My God so they have bottled it,, this will happen again and Again now after payet and now this idiot any player that’s wants out will know that we haven’t got a pair between us ..and if they play up they will get a move .. And for a lot less money than originally thought with Arnie …this will open up a can of worms…. This will cause problems now ..you cannot replace them goals ..basically sold our best weapon.. Sad sad day

It happens at every club Kip, of course we can replace the goals he scores 10 to 15 a season, its not like he is a 25 – 30 goal a season guy, if we get another aggressive number 9 in that can terrorise defences like Gomez, then it is a step in the right direction. Arnie is allegedly in financial dire straits, even if we offered him a significant pay rise it wouldn’t come close to solving his problems so we are best off shot of him before he comes completely off the rails. There are some things in life you can manage and some things you can’t, a premier league footballers lack of financial acumen is out of scope for the directors of our club, would we as fans like to keep him yes for the most part, is it likely, doesn’t seem so and an unhappy camper ruins the dynamic of the team so on balance we are probably best to get rid.

I wouldn’t say they have bottled it.

It all depends what happens before the transfer window ends.

If we get the money we want for Arnie, then buy gomez as a young replacement at 22 before the end of the window. Then it would be a sensible decision. As Arni focused is a massive assist, but he wont be the same if hes not.

It would be different to the payet situation, as with him we didn’t get the money to by a top replacement.

However if we sell now, and dont replace now- then our season will turn on its head.

      So time will tell.

Well, i certainly agree that the blokes a weapon Kip.
Bye bye Arnie, don’t let the door hit your arse on the way out.

  • Trevor From England says:

Maxi is not the player that Marko is.

  • Hammers in the blood 1 says:

So Arnie pops up on Instagram too saying “news very soon” . So he’s either staying or going lol . Gómez would be a good signing if Arnie stays or goes. COYI

    Arnie vs. Gomez

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/vergleich/spielervergleich/statistik/def/spieler/41384&396894

Gomez is 7yrs younger and has no attitude.

    All day long for me.

Player power wins again. He is obviously on the verge of leaving hence his omission from the squad for tomorrows match.Like the look of Gomez and surely we must be close to getting him as a replacement otherwise Arnie leaving makes no sense in this window as it seriously blunts our goal getting capability.I hope the Hammers get him as the talks seem to be gathering momentum. We all love a maverick type player at West Ham but this is the downside. Both he and Payet are just footnotes in our club history where as Di Canio has legendary status because although a maverick he was loyal to our club and not a money grabbing chancer.

  • Clive says:

Arnie is at his peak. Could be several years before you see the best of Gómez. However Gomez has the potential to improve and has many years of football ahead of him. whereas Arnie only has a few years left in the game. Gomez is unproven in the premier league. He could be the next Zaza. Or he could be better than Arnie. Nothing is guaranteed but if it was my own money I would be taking a punt on the up and coming rather than the has-been soon to be over the hill players. S

  • Hammerkip says:

Not sure what is going on but he has just said he is staying on sky sports news,,I think I will shut up now lo. l,maybe we will still buy maxi

  • Trevor From England says:
