WITHOUT official confirmation or even so much as a ‘here we go’ from In The Know Fabrizio Romano, it is difficult to be 100% confident of the rumours that surfaced over the weekend regarding West Ham United’s new  midfield recruit.

Whilst media reports from Portugal speak with ever increasing certainty, there’s still nothing concrete regarding the arrival of Gustavo Sá.

FC Famalicão captain Gustavo Sá, the Portuguese Under-21 midfielder linked with a move to West Ham United.

Increasingly likely that Sá will become a Hammer

However that may be about to change as UK sites are reporting progress in the young man’s WestHam transfer: Sportwitness amongst others now deeming it safe to state:

“West Ham United are now closing in on the completion of their move for Gustavo Sá. The Portuguese midfielder is preparing to travel to England for his medical ahead of a record-breaking transfer from Famalicão.”

Seasoned Hammers fans will wait until the player is pictured holding the shirt before getting too excited but the ‘transfer noise’ out of Portugal has been remarkably consistent. Indeed, the same report sheds a little more light on Sá’s pending move to east London, claiming that:

“Gustavo Sá previously turned down an offer from Saudi Arabia. He preferred to wait for an opportunity in a more competitive environment.”

He’ll certainly find that in the Championship. Certainly nothing coming out of the media today to suggest anything other than a West Ham done deal in the next couple of days. Exciting times as the ‘reboot’ continues.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
