Noble tells racists: You aren’t wanted here

|

Mark Noble has pinned his colours to the mast and told the racists they are not wanted at West Ham United.

Continuing concerns came to a head when Tyrone Mings was singled out for abuse in the recent international between England and Bulgaria.

Whether that has been dealt with in the correct way is a matter for discussion but the reality is not a discussion anyway.

It belongs to a prehistoric era and it’s a disgrace to society and football that the captain – and others at other clubs – clubs need to do so.

However, we say well played to Nobes in the circumstances because he couldn’t have been firmer in his own expression of personal hatred of such totally ignorant and unacceptable behaviour.

Angelo Ogbonna has also spoken out on the issue and it’s good that neither have been ready to pull their punches in telling those who need to express racist related comments they are not wanted inside our club

Noble told the official site: “As a Club, West Ham are fully united behind the Premier League’s #NoRoomForRacism campaign.

“It’s something that gets highlighted at football in particular. I think emotions in people can come out in football, and it can show people for who they really are.

“If you want to go to a game and racially abuse someone, if you’re the sort of person who could do that, just don’t bother coming here, because we’ve got no time for it.

“In our game, there are so many different nationalities and cultures everywhere. To us, in the changing room, we stick together, and we do it as a Club as well.

“I don’t know if football will ever be able to completely get rid of racism, in all honesty, but we all just need to do as much as we can to ensure we’re not going to let it happen. That’s why I’m so happy that people are making a stand on it.”
