Noble: ‘This is in our back pocket for the rest of time

|

Mark Noble’s role in the side has been questioned time and again over recent seasons but today he showed exactly why he’s going to be around for a while yet.

It was written all over his face  as the manager subbed him near the end raising fears that like last week all the hard work may slip away with him unable to affect it.

He never stopped today and showed outstanding form on the ball as he found himself at the heart of all the good things happening around him.

First and foremost Mar’s a fan and victory today probably meant more to him than any member of the team – he was born and bred for our club and has never given leaving a second thought.

And his delight was clear as he gave an interview to ambassador Marlon Harewood on West Ham Tv after a game where we created a piece of important history in North london.

He said: ““The way we’ve played, we thoroughly deserved the result today. To come here is hard enough as it is, but to play the way that we did was brilliant. I thought we performed really well today and deserved our win.

“We felt like we could hurt them in some places. I felt, in the second half, we relaxed a bit more on the ball. In the first half, we perhaps tried to score too quickly. We tried to go forward too quick but we played a bit in the second half.

“Michail got a great finish and, all in all, a terrific performance. The first team to win and score here – it goes down in history. What a fantastic day for the club!”

Amnd on Antonio’s goal he added: “Marko and Michail had switched positions at that point and Marko found himself out on the right. It was a fantastic ball for Michail, who smashed it home into the side netting. What a great finish!

“I’m not too sure about the celebration! I didn’t really see it – I was too busy celebrating with Marko, but as I turned around he’d just finished. I heard he’d said he had been practising it in nightclubs. Typical Michail!”

“The way we played was fantastic. For the club and especially for the fans, that win is bragging rights. The first team to win here in history. We’ve always got that in our back pocket now for the rest of time.“

I thought subbing him for Ogbonna was a smart move, it was great to show MP adapting to us conceding late goals by shoring up the holes in our defence leaving less space to be exploited. Well done Noble and well done MP COYI!!!

Noble was excellent. If not man of the match, he was certainly the best midfielder we had today. Passing was top draw. Played a few lovely balls as well.

Great result – well done to the boys and well done to Pelle. Good to see the General / Diop partnership back in action

Now 50 points is a real possibility and that would mean that the season is an improvement after last season. Also now I have hope for next season
