Nuno Has Had Long Enough – West Ham Need a Change

I’ve seen enough. For me, Nuno Espírito Santo’s time as West Ham manager should be up.

I’ve had nearly 24 hours to reflect on the dreadful 3-1 defeat against West Bromwich Albion, and without the immediate anger and frustration of the final whistle, my opinion hasn’t changed. If anything, I’m even more convinced that Nuno isn’t the man to take West Ham forward.

This isn’t simply a reaction to one bad result or even two consecutive defeats. It’s the culmination of more than a year of watching a manager who still doesn’t appear to know his best team, his preferred formation or how to get the best out of the attacking players at his disposal.

West Ham Are Getting Worse, Not Better

The football has become stale, the players look unmotivated and, perhaps most worrying of all, I’m struggling to see any genuine improvement.

Jarrod Bowen says words are no longer enough, and I completely agree. But when I look back at our performances throughout the season, I’m not convinced these last two defeats represent some sudden collapse in standards. I think the problems have been there for quite some time.

In my latest video, I explain why I’ve finally lost faith in Nuno, why I don’t believe this is an overreaction and why West Ham need to act before our promotion ambitions suffer any further damage.

I’m also concerned about the empty seats, the growing apathy amongst supporters and the fact that watching West Ham has become such a chore.

I know plenty of supporters will disagree with me, and that’s absolutely fine. We all want West Ham to succeed.

But for me, the time has come for a change.

Nuno has had long enough. West Ham need to move on.

Totally agree Gonzo , watching him on the touch line doesn’t inspire the players or the supporters. We have better players in the squad which he doesn’t even consider giving a go because he hasn’t fallen out with them. This has happened to many times with him it can’t always be the players fault. A change sooner than later otherwise we won’t be gracing the premier league anytime soon.

You’re right about him not knowing his best team Gonzo. Under his watch we paid big money for Taty (supposedly a premier quality stiker), and bought Piroue for his record of scoring for fun at championship level. Instead of giving them starts he plays (in theory) 2 strikers, one of which is an out-and-out midfielder and the other never looks like scoring and couldn’t trap a bag of cement. He puts faith in a centre half who can’t head, mark or tackle, and who turns slower than milk. He sticks with his new signing from north of the border despite him showing little vision and providing poor set-piece delivery. He puts too much pressure on a young loanee by playing him out of position every week. He needs to go but who should we replace him with? There isn’t a Neil Warnock out there to almost guarantee taking us up. Parker can get teams up but can’t keep them there. Maybe Sean Dyche is the man. He would certainly make us harder to beat and is a pragmatist. He got Burnley up twice. He might not have us playing “the West Ham way”, but we haven’t done for years. I may be unpopular but we need to be realistic. What we need right now is someone like Dyche, like when BFS got us up and kept us up.

I’ve been very critical of this site , particularly of its treatment of Pablo
But i must agree with the current sentiment around Nuno.
Why is he not playing Piroe every game a proven Championship goalscorer from the start every game.

    I think this is correct

Joël Piroe in the Championship ⚽

    Swansea
    Games: 91 | Goals: 41 | 1 goal every 184 mins

    Leeds
    Games: 88 | Goals: 32 | 1 goal every 182 mins

    West Ham
    Games: 9 | Goals: 3 | 1 goal every 140 mins

Gonzo I agree with you although I hate it that the West Ham of Greenwood and Lyall has now become a sacking club

However the important question is not what a fan in South Africa thinks but what does Kretinsky think or what or when will he decide to change the manager?

Absolutely true , even a single word! Always I said Nuno suppose to be sacked last year on the Christmas times when we lost that crucial games with Fulham, Forest both home and away with Wolves. But here we are again! He break Aavram Grant bad record all times, is the most worst coach West Ham has in his history! Why Spurs sack him after just 7 games? Why Kretinsky sleep in his shoes?

Unfortunately David Moyes isn’t available any more.
