This was supposed to be the season in which West Ham were reborn. The slide towards relegation was a couple of years in the making and a year in the Championship felt as if it would allow the club to clear the decks of the m malcontented players and reboot. Fans had spent far too long enduring their club being mired within the bottom three and a chance to start winning again seemed a price worth paying if it got the pride back at London Stadium.
Which is what makes the uproar so loud, the disquiet so heartfelt. It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Setting up for home games without a striker worthy of the name, no ability or even a plan to play the ball through the middle and a defence that can’t keep goals out to save their lives (or their jobs) is reminiscent of last season’s ‘siege’ mentality.
Nuno failed to keep the side within the Premier League just as he’s failing to keep them in the reckoning for automatic promotion, with the same, cautious, one dimensional game.

Nuno can’t – or won’t – abandon the cautious, slow ponderous style that is drowning the club and frustrating paying supporters.
Which is not what the 55,000 who signed up were expecting this season.
Record transfer fees for the division suggested that we’d be ‘going for it‘ but the absolute lack of ambition, at home, in the last couple of weeks has been the worst part to witness.
Starting without a plan to attack an opponent is something West Ham fans have seen through, as easily as West Brom and Southampton the week before played through the Iron’s token, disorganised defence. Change the players but the style and result remains the same, it seems. And we know where that buck stops.
Much like every season ticket holder, I’ll bet Jarrod Bowen is wondering what on earth he’s signed up for: It certainly wasn’t this disorganised, toothless, spineless procession of mediocrity and the same excuses trotted out week after week. Spare us.
There are two areas at fault here, board and yes especially Sulivan who got us in this position and the manager Nuno who also partly got us in this position. Nuno needs to think the board will not take the blame so it will be you. With managers like Dyche, Southgate and Frank our of work there are options available. So get your finger out and sort this mess out for the rest of the season by putting some fire into the players or go.
I woke up this morning still feeling down and angry.after that display. As against Southampton our defence was slow and ponderous. How Kilman gets picked every week is beyond me?.
Midfield and attack are not much better either.Cannot believe we paid 22 million for Engels.Pablo bless him tries hard but he is miles away from the finished article.
I know some people don’t think we should do it but at the end of the game i was one of those who was booing and with a “f**k off Nuno” in there as well!.
.
Nuno out, he’s been found wanting players need a gut check in the dressing room.A list of three Shaun Dyche Craig Bellamy and Paulo Dicanio.please not another yes man Someone to lead⚒
Attack is the best form of defence, especially with the attacking talent we have so why does he keep starting games with so much caution? Also you don’t need to be paid tens of thousands of £s a week to drum into the players that we are a cup final game for most of this division, it’s OBVIOUS they are gonna go at us for the first 10/20 mins! We are still only 5pts off top so no need to panic BUT he needs to grow a pair n go for it more. ⚒⚒⚒🏴
Nuno is far too cautious we should be setting up to attack teams we are better on the front foot. This is not good enough , yes Nuno should go but the players also need to accept responsibility. In this league energy , physicality and fight is essential . The players need to buck up , shocking performance. We won’t get promoted playing like this.
Anyone else thinking “Paco Jémez” 🤔
Indeed, trouble is that Nuno’s mate is now the assistant and you’d not get Jemez without a whole load of expensive ‘firings’.
I’m guessing he meant Jemez for manager. That is how I read it anyhow. As an assistant I doubt Jemez would wish to join up only to be ignored a 2nd time.
NES is going to cost millions in players ousted, youngsters ignored, because they will all need to be replaced after they leave while current manager is not considered PL material nor progressive enough for an ambitious club with new owners. So he’ll go at some stage.
From your comments Martin about expensive firings I guess it means managers & coaches are effectively blackmailing clubs through compensation packages., Sorry state of affairs.
