Despite the atrocious performance at Wolves on Saturday, West Ham fans can feel a twinge of moderate interest, if not yet excitement – despite their lowly and perilous eighteenth position in the Premier League. Notwithstanding even the clueless performance against Wolves, the signing of two strikers has put the club back to where it should have been at the start of the season.
And finally, West Ham look to have a couple of decent frontmen.
And the Hammers aren’t finished yet. Whether the funds are going to come from selling Lucas Paquetá – as has been mooted on a couple of sites this afternoon – who knows but West Ham;s manager for the meantime is clear that the transfer business is not yet concluded:
Reported by sky sports, West Ham’s coach revealed how he was feeling at the pre ‘Forest press conference:
“Grateful,” says Nuno of the early transfer business.
“Grateful because it was a need. I think we have done well in a transfer window that is very tricky to operate. Pablo was at the Wolves game, now we have Taty and we hope we can have more.
“We hope that we can have more because it’s the right moment to try and impact the squad and give to the squad the help that it deserves and needs. We need options’
Which means there’s still a few more weeks of the tran seer rumour mill going at full speed ahead, folks, before West Ham;s transfer business is concluded. Better late than never. As long as one of the signings is called ‘Cresswell’ then there’ll be all to play for in the last half of the season. Keep the faith…
He may be called Cresswell but his forename is more likely to be Aaron 😊
But, are these “new” players – along with the two strikers just signed – any good ? I have my doubts & think that they could be more of the same old cr-p that we already have !
Not sure I understand the continual hype around Cresswell. I agree we desperately need another CB, if not two, but it’s odd there hasn’t been more interest in him don’t you think?
Lots of similarities with Harwood-Bellis who again if he was that good would’ve been picked up by now.
I suspect we’ll get someone in but I would guess it won’t be Cresswell as clearly the club have moved on especially since the price has gone up since the summer.
Not sure it signals more, Toulouse haven’t been contacted by West Ham, we need supply to the front players and El Karanoui hasn’t been bought, we lack pace out wide and haven’t addressed that, we lack leadership and personality, hopefully Felipe and Taty have that but is yet to be seen. We arguably need a manager that can lift the players and if we don’t win tonight am fairly confident Nuno will be gone in the morning who knows what that will mean for future transfers?
Keep the faith is the only thing we can do at the moment. Interestingly I see that Taty is billed on the club websire as a deep-lying forward. Could it be that the intention is to play him in a front 3 alongside Bowen and Pablo? Not really sure how likely Cresswell is, but I agree with a previous comment that what we really need is to somehow find a Dawson or Ginge type of no nonsense defender who would also lead and organise those around him.
