Obiang may face snag on Italian job

|

Pedro Obiang may struggle to get the terms he wants should Inter Milan – as expected – follow up their earlier interest in the Hammers midfielder.

For like virtually all Serie A clubs – with the exception of Juventus – the wage levels are far lower than in the Premier League and his asking price of £6-8 million makes him a £35k – to £40k player at best in their terms.

Given he is currently on around £50k a week at West Ham and with another three years on his deal that could create a problem.

However, weighed against that is his desire to get back to Europe and thus like Maxi Gomez in Spain he has a dilemma only he can solve.

Sampdoria and Roma are also reported to have been showing an interest but they too will struggle to pay the salary terms his representatives would like to agree.

He is very much on the Hammers exit list with the club now looking overloaded with players in midfield.
