Baseball to return to London Stadium next year

|

MLB baseball will be returning to the London Stadium again next June it has been announced.

This weekend will be the first time that Major League Baseball has been played in Europe when the Boston Red Sox will face the New York Yankees in back to back fixtures on Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 June.

130,000 Baseball fans who have paid between £60 and £1,000 will be able to buy food and drink from their seats including a jumbo two-foot Broomstick hot dog for £24 and a jumbo Broomstick Nachos for £19.

Mascots will include Winston Churchill, Henry VIII, Freddie Mercury and the Loch Ness Monster.

Organisers have already announced that Major League Baseball is returning to London Stadium in June 2020, where the St Louis Cardinals will renew their rivalry with the Chicago Cubs at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park venue.

The MLB hopes to make baseball a regular annual event at the London Stadium which could limit the music concerts the stadium can host in the future.

I still don’t understand the fascination with playing games overseas. If people care that much about the sport, they’ll go to America and watch it for themselves. I would imagine that’s part of the experience.

Lets hope the Premier League never dirties it’s brand by forcing itself on a niche market.
