Oxford decision will have to wait

Stories continue to swirl around that Borussia Monchengladbach are ready to make a £15 million bid which some outlets had reported and been turned down anyway.

Thus the situation remains exactly the same as it was hen Oxfod as recalled with David Moyes determined to give himself time to assess the 19 yer old.

The new stories have all been generated following quotes comments from Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl commenting on his club’s offocial website.

He said: “We spoke to West Ham a lot in the winter break and we were surprised when they decided to trigger the clause to recall him. The tone of the discussions before that had been slightly different.

“But I understand their intentions – West Ham are in a fight to stay up and they wanted to bring back a really good player to help them. However he hasn’t featured for them since being recalled so we are continuing to have talks with the club.

“I hope that no other club comes in and makes him an offer to turn his head. As long as that doesn’t happen, we have the chance of bringing Reece back to Gladbach.”

However, the comments about the player not featuring are easily explained as he has sustained an ankle injury which it is hoped he will have shaken off in time for a probable squad place against Huddersfield at the weekend.

Moyes has explained his desire to hold onto the club’s best youngsters saying: “Taht’s been the same wherever I have managed.”
