Ask any West Ham fan after last weekend’s 3-1 home loss to West Bromwich Albion whether they’d settle for winning ways at all costs and most would have instantly nodded their agreement.
The second three goal loss at home within eight days had caused the boos to ring out as Nuno’s West Ham train derailed spectacularly, in what was to prove his last game and his ultimate undoing.
Right now there’s a relief flooding around the club as a former hero has returned to take over from negative Nuno. Long may it continue.
However the suggestions are that Parker may not prove to be the all-conquering hero that West Ham seek, judging from his impact at previous clubs. Yes, he knows how to get out of this division and yes, he sure can fix a porous defence – Burnley’s statistics speak for that.
But according to footballleagueworld.co.uk’s article this morning, his time at Burnley divided supporters with his grim, gritty style of play offering little in the way of entertainment:
“The football’s dire. He will bore you to death, and he will cause a fanbase to turn through little snide little comments. He will cause the West Ham fanbase to turn on it.
And that has happened at every single club consistently.”

Few will complain if Scott Parker gets West Ham promoted
Writes their Burnley fan columnist Aaron Wright, condemning Parker’s management style – not results – in the strongest possible terms.
“This is the biggest job he could get, if he can’t get them promoted slash win the league, and if he can’t then keep them in the Premier League, he needs to rethink pretty much everything. He is never getting a bigger job than this and his reputation as a player has helped him get this one. It’s the most guaranteed promotion you will ever have.
“The West Ham fans won’t enjoy it, but I think there’ll be a good respect to it if it turns out how Burnley’s did. 33 games unbeaten is something else.”
Which will have to be a price worth paying, simply to climb back out of this league after the mess of last season and save West Ham from the financial armageddon that not getting promoted would surely deliver.
To paraphrase Jacob Steiberg, Guardian journalist, on Parker’s football shortcomings not succeeding in the Premier League: worry about that next season – first you have to make it back.
i think most on here will already have read elsewhere that Scott Parker does have that reputation but the job in hand is to get West Ham back to the Prem. once if that happens then people can scrutinize his methods then. the job at this moment in time is only one thing.
perhaps and we all would hope that he has learned from those passed jobs. if anyone is being honest has anyone seen great football from anywhere this passed few years in the english game
stop the whinging give the man a chance.west ham is in his bones.he understands west ham and what we want.after relegation i was still waiting for the genious of nuno to appear.
talk about giving a good talk.i used to listen to him at press conferences i thought i was litening to my headmaster back at school.parker speaks from the heart not the lectern.at least the directors have woken up and smelt the coffee.this club is a basket case its not all down to the manager its starts and finishes at the top.parker mentioned that wonderful word risks.give the bloke a chance and let him take some. 7.000 away fans today we are massive lets hope the directors start appreciating this or all get out.make no mistake if nuno remained as manager not only would we not be promoted we would end up really struggling.a decent bloke but not west ham.
Agree with you completely Geoffrey, our immediate need and focus is to get out of this league and Scott knows how to do that. Once we have achieved that then is the time to review how we move forward back in the PL.
