Pellegrini Chile trip not a “big issue”

|

Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to make a quick trip to Chile during the international break is based entirely on personal reasons and is not seen as a big issue by the club.

The manager’s need to return to his homeland should not cause any break whatsoever in the training regime he and his team have introduced since arriving at the club.

Pellegrini will be back at the weekend to oversee intensive training schedules ahead of the match at Everton next weekend but has every confidence in his backroom staff to ensure it’s business as usual.

The players are understood to be returning to Rush Green in midweek and Pellegrini himself will be back at the helm by Saturday.

It is not necessarily custom and practice for managers to always be on the premises during training anyway as was the case typically with Martin O’Neill during his Leicester City days when he left things very much in the hands of his back-up team as is often the case elsewhere.

A club source said: “This is not a problem – he is going out to Chile and straight back. It’s certainly not a big issue.”

I think we all need to take a breath!

Pelle is a proven Prem manager, and from what I’ve seen he is a decent man full of integrity – some might say he is like what we had in Bilic, but a better manager.

We have one of the highest percentages of new players in our starting 11, many without prem experience. It would take a team that have been together for years time to adapt to a new system, this is now a new system for 50% and a totally new team for the other 50%.

This is not the situation De Boer was in.

I’ll agree performances have been lacklustre, but it looks to me players are in two minds. Wilshere especially doesn’t look like he knows whether to push up or sit back, and because of this, he has been caught inbetween quite a lot, and that’s the same for other players like Anderson. Wrong positioning has meant that movement off the ball has been poor and the movement of the team isn’t together.

We just need to give it time! This set up and team can be a long term situation that breeds success, once stability sets in. So we should just have faith in the manager and team. I think they’re all aware they’ve lost 4 games and will be doing the job they are paid to do to correct it. I was shocked to see the ‘board vote of confidence’ story.. I should hope so after 4 games and a £10m-a-year contract for Pelle.

It’s such a shame to read people in the media moving with the current, we’re better than that.
