Manuel Pellegrini has responded to the West Ham fans boos after he substituted Robert Snodgrass who scored the Hammers only goal and came within inches from a second.
Questioned about the boos by the media post-match the gaffer explained “Well because we are in the last three or four minutes of the game, we wanted to be with two players inside the box so we can score that goal to decide the game. Robert worked a lot during the whole game. He did very good game [but] we need fresh legs inside the box to try to score the second goal.”
Asked if he was disappointed with the result the manager added “Of course we are disappointed because we lost two more points here at home. It was a similar game that we lost against Crystal Palace where we create options to win the game. Those options you must score. Today I think that we play a good game. We play from the beginning, we create crosses [and] corners. In the first half we score one goal and in the second half we have at least three or four key options to decide the game. After that they draw and they defend very well.”
