Phil Brown asked Bilic to sub Payet

|
payetDimtri Payet scored two goals on his debut against Southend, and Southend Manager Phil Brown admittedΒ he even asked Slaven Bilic to take the playmaker off to make it a fairer contest.
β€œI’m delighted for my chairman and for the Club that West Ham played a strong squad,” Brown told Southend’s official website.
β€œThere was one player – Dimitri Payet – who showed absolute quality and I asked Slaven [Bilic] whether he was going to take him off, and make it more of an even game!”

Did not know that was in the rules but good to know, hope we can use that next year,
Does not mater what the quality of the opposition class will always shine through

Lol love it, “plz take your star man off, he’s to good” hahaha classic
good old phil brown. Lets hope other managers feel the same way this season. πŸ˜€

  • Wonder whether Bilic can do the same with Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City. Just ask them to sub their best players. It is so simple and genius πŸ™‚

On Payet’s so called suspension. I don’t think he is according to the rules.

    Champions League suspension rules
A player who receives two yellow cards in a match is sent off the field and suspended from the next match. A player who is given a straight red card for a bad foul is automatically suspended a minimum of one game, but additional punishments from the Control and Disciplinary Body can be added, depending on the severity of the foul. Accumulating multiple yellow cards in multiple matches can also result in additional discipline. Any punishment that has not been served by the end of the season expires; it has no bearing on a player’s eligibility for the next year’s competition.

He was sent off for 2 yellow cards, the 2nd for stimulation, against Dortmund in December 2013 (2013/14 season ) .Marseilles last European game having not competed in Europe at all in 2014/15 season

I hope the club know this.
Don’t see why he would not off been available for selection in the 1st leg last Thursday apart from fitness.

    • The club’s official club confirmed it was a suspension and various injury and suspension websites also had him down as suspended before the club put that up.

Still a mystery to me though why

They must have it wrong and wouldn’t surprise me if they are ill informed.
Suspensions don’t carry over from one year to the next and never have .

Where was that said Sean, I can’t find it ?

Funny stuff from Phil Brown , hats off …. As commented by Sean Whetstone , I hope it continues into the new season and other managers ask the same question , (won’t happen )
Can you imagine frightening the Big Clubs !, can’t wait for the season to kick off .
I would like to make one comment ,, not sure what the responses will be , but here goes .
I often wonder how things would have turned out ( considering the advanced plan to cease with Allardyce ) if we had kept Ravel Morrison on our books . The Italians love him , after all he has a special Talent , of that there is no doubt . Can’t help thinking that Bilic and his staff would have his discipline sorted out , or at least put him on the right path .
Just thought I would share that ponder with you all .

  • Radai Lama says:

Keep up the positivity Kev.No comment on Morrison.I will leave that to the Ravel is a God fan club on here, lol πŸ˜€

  • Si Hammer says:

We dont need Morrison now Kevin,we have Payet. But if Hair-dryer Ferguson couldnt sort out Morrison im not sure who could.Only he can get his head straight, dont know if he will.I dont give a damn he has gone tbh.Pain in the butt πŸ˜‰

  • kevin says:

Yeh , you all probably right .. It was just a thought .

  • essexclarets says:

It is such a waste of talent as club after club give up on the lad. The best thing he did (hopefully) was to move abroad, so with luck his hanger ons will have stayed at home. The worst example of kids being given way too much money at an early age & having smoke blown up his arse.. playing the billy big B****x thinking he has made it already. Like I said I hope he doesn’t screw it up for himself & proves that he can go all the way.
