Player’s wait shows Irons ascent

|

AntonioMichail Antonio has admitted he is facing a tough job to break into our first team!

Just as we explained a few days back, the former Nottingham Forest star is our long term prospect down the left side with highly expensive loan signing Victor Moses set to see most of the action this term – assuming he remains injury free.

Antonio made a brief appearance in the siege of Manchester during the second half – not the easiest introduction but is still waiting to make a serious impact – not easy as we have been unbeaten in four league games.

A transfer fee of £7 million would once have guaranteed an automatic first team appearance from Day One a little while back but no more – those days are gone ….hopefully forever!

Michail knows it but is ready when the call comes having told the official site: “There is big competition for places with Dimitri, Lanzini and Moses who can play wide but when it comes I can take my opportunity.”

There’s a strong message being sent out here and it’s this – West Ham are indeed moving up levels and quickly.

Things have rarely looked better in my long experience and whilst I accept it’s early days we have to see the new perspectives we are now working  from,be grateful for what’s happened and for what’s to come.
