While the Irons on-field performance falters, they’re making proactive moves off the pitch to bolster their squad for the future. Their latest target? A young Brazilian talent with bags of potential: Wesley Gassova.

Recent losses have made it clear: West Ham needs a refresh. The current squad lacks depth, and some players seem unmotivated. This urgency to rebuild adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing managerial search.

Despite the uncertain managerial situation, technical director Tim Steidten is pressing on with transfers, presumably confident he’ll remain in charge.

One player catching Steidten’s eye is 19-year-old Brazilian attacker Wesley Gassova. His blistering pace, quick feet, and technical skills are impressive, and with proper training, his finishing and playmaking abilities can be honed.

West Ham’s initial offer of £13 million for Gassova fell short of Corinthians’ expectations, who value him closer to £20 million. The Hammers are reportedly considering including add-ons to make the deal more attractive.

Gassova’s potential departure has sparked debate in Brazil. Some Corinthians fans urge the club to capitalise on his potential and secure the highest possible fee. Others believe his talent justifies an even higher price tag and recommend rejecting any offer below their asking price.

Even if Gassova doesn’t become a superstar, the transfer fee wouldn’t be a bank breaker. Given his age and talent, there’s a high chance he’ll develop into a valuable asset for West Ham. On the other hand, if he fulfills his potential, he could become a key player for the club at a bargain price.

  • Paul says:

If Tim Steindten thinks hes a good player even if he’s one for the future just pay what there asking for. we lost Cole Parmer from Man City by not paying what they wanted.

And look at him banging in the goals now.

      I agree.

We spend £1.50 on the stadium so pay the price.

With the correct coaching, he’ll triple his value after a couple of years in the first team.
