Police gloat over West Ham arrests

|

PoliceDorset police posted a bizarre social media message which appears to gloat over trouble at West Ham’s game with Bournemouth.

The tweet from Dorset Police Football unite saidIts been a really busy month for football fans – West Ham was a busy one – sadly a few ended up with us for a while and will be going to court in January – Happy New Year! One more to follow – he knows who he is and we look forward to meeting next week”

A number of West Ham fans have not taken kindly to the message on Twitter.

Peter Caton replied: “Is gloating now official police policy or just unwise tweeting? Hardly the way to get the cooperation of fans. Don’t forget who pays for your hats.”

Lee Hendle added “I was at that match, I travel all around the country, and got to say the policing there was the most over the top pathetic display I have seen for some time, you will be pleased to know I won’t rush back. Takes me back to the pictures of when city were down there.

Claret and Hugh understands there were three arrests all for pitch incursion and the other arrest to follow they mention is, in fact, a Bournemouth fan.

Can’t come round and investigate your house being turned over but they have time to tweet, perhaps they’ll start tweeting crime numbers next

In ligh of recent cases, which should never have reached the courts, having to be dropped because of police failures in dealing with the evidence it might be worth advising those arrested to make sure they get decent legal advice.
