More reports today credit West Ham United with a late bid for FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Djú as Chairman David Sullivan weighs up whether to ignore his manager’s remarks about not needing a striker and go hell for leather to sign the highly rated youngster before Monday night, in the face of fierce Premier League competition.

Sportswitness.co.uk claim Nottingham Forest are the latest side to enter the race and that:

“West Ham were reported to have made a €15m bid yesterday ” and Nottingham Forest have :“already accelerated negotiations in the last few days in the hope of getting a deal done at the end of the window. They’ve been told they will need to offer as much as €20m to get the deal over the line.” Reports the sport web site.

No wonder the striker is in such high demand, nine goals and two assists already in ten matches since the start of the 2025/26 campaign is top tier performance. So £17 million – twenty million euros – is the price sought by the Danish Supaliga side.

Someone will steal him: Another Gyokeres– type missed opportunity? Who knows. Would just hate to look back with regret in two years and see him moving to a top six side for sixty million: But two confirmed transfers in one day is probably as good as it is going to get for West Ham fans.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

At that price it’s worth a punt, it’s not as if someone wouldn’t take a punt on him if it didn’t work out to recoup at least half the money.

Boniface is also worth a punt if we can get him on loan with an option.

Westham are in deep trouble if they don’t sack Potter soon . Westham will lose to Nottingham Forest , possibly heavily and so I hope that’s the catalyst to rid us of the coach with archaic tactics from yesteryear . Football has evolved greatly since Potter coached Brighton and Chelsea to mediocrity more than 2 years ago .

This guy is not to be missed, even at 30 mill I think he will be money well spent. ⚒⚒⚒⚒

Dju does sound like a striker for now and the future – wonder what scouting has been done by WHU.

Potter is an odd man wandering in a strange world sometimes. weird midfield selections, no need for a striker, Potts, Scarles, Earthy, Callum Marshall never seen, a 1st half against Wolves which one commentator said was like watching a testimonial and manager thinks it was a good with plenty of positives and unlucky to be a goal down, …

most of us are already thinking of the spurs match… presumably relegated to just another match by the manager to avoid all the unwholesome pressure of footballing rivalry.

on the other hand the new signings are absolutely in keeping with the types of players they said they would be going for and they really add to the midfield, our weakest area (just ahead of the other areas 😁) – there is hope we could be a transformed team with all these changes. I hope we start climbing the table and Potter comes good, but… who knows really? Good signings though!

We need to sign Dji without doubt
What we have is not good enough in Wilson and Fulkrug
Marshall excluded would like to see him given a chance
It’s looking a bit more hopefu

Looking like Soucek, Emerson and Aguerd are all on there way.
Need to up the anti on Dju, Timber, Mwanga and Schmid proto.

  • Kenny Irons says:

That proves how clueless Potter is, how are you expected to score goals without a striker ?
    Never heard such tosh, man’s a b****y idiot !
Bottom line is, we go a goal down and it’s nearly game over, cos most of the time one goal is maximum we can achieve and, as we know, we can’t defend !
MUST get in a commanding CB in addition to CF ( under 30 ! ).
Potter will get us relegated, need to take action now.

Don’t need a striker!!! Dji seems a decent price so buy him along with a keeper and a centre back who can head a ball. Happy with the two new guys so let’s see what happens next before the window shuts.
