Radio caller slams deluded West Ham fans

|

A Manchester United fan called Jonathan called Talksport radio to label West Ham fans deluded.

The Northern supporter told  radio listeners on Talksport Breakfast show:

West Ham fans are the most deluded fans in the country bar none.”

For some reason, they think they are a big club when they are not.

“They don’t win anything and they don’t own their own stadium!”

“The best part about West Ham was  having to go to Upton Park and I have been going there since the seventies and eighties and it was intimidating, they had this atmosphere which was horrible, now its a joke!!

“They are living on this West Ham won the World Cup, how many times have I heard that, the East End mentality, Pie and Mash,  We all love them!  Come on its’ not true! There is a lot wrong with that club, hell of a lot wrong and they need to start realising it!

Claret and Hugh say:

Jonathan is entitled to his opinion but it could be argued that their fans are equally deluded living in the memory of Sir Alex Ferguson’s success. Manchester United last won the Premier League title in the 2012-13 season despite having the latest turnover of any top flight club.  The 2017/2018 season they finished sixth outside the Champions league places. With Manchester United attracting a lot of glory hunters with no connection to the area maybe those in those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. We would like to know what you think about Jonathan’s rant about West Ham fans.

Most of it is fairly factual in fairness. We don’t own our stadium, we don’t win anything, our stadium has got a poor atmos compared to UP etc etc. What I disagree with is the delusion. I think WH fans are a pretty pragmatic bunch. We know we’re generally a mid table team at best and I rarely speak to anyone who thinks differently. We’re not in the top tier and we know it. Hopefully one day we can get there but I don’t think we think we’re anything we’re not. Just a ranty Man U twonk. You won the game pal, what’s the prob?? Move on you muppet.

  • Maziron says:

You are never more than 6 feet away from a Manchester United fan. They are the ultimate plastic glory hunters. Who cares what he or any of them thinks! COYI

  • Hammerpete says:

Plenty of Man U ‘fsns’ don’t even know where Old Trafford is, never been, ever. Look at the money they have spent and won nothing. Still living on the Fergie rep and getting penalties gifted to boost their position.

    • Artran says:

Forget about the united part of it. We are a mid table side with the financial setup of a mid table side. We have nowhere near the financial clout to be anything else. The team are doing well but be realistic, that’s as good as it’s probably going to get. I’m not being negative or lacking ambition it’s just where we are at the moment.

  • DJHAMMER says:

Nobody cares about his rabble rousing.

Big club? Smaller clubs, does it really matter?
What he fails to understand is that this is our club!
“ we all follow the West Ham, over land and sea
we all follow the West Ham onto victory!

  • Mojen says:

Where does he live Surrey ? For the second club in manchester he has a lot to say. West Ham really must be worrying him.

  • The Honest Friend says:

One club fan base I will never get into banter with is Man Utd.

They all say that they were born in Manchester. They all say that they regularly attend matches.
I have literally met a Man Utd fan who changed colours after Arsenal won the league in the 90s. Never seen the like from any club other than Man Utd.

None of them know what its like to lose and still be the loudestest and proudest fans in the stadium, on a wet windy Tuesday in some northern backwater, where the first train back is the next day! In that regard I have a lot of time for the older Man City fans. Man utd stans should learn something from them.

I not going to spend any time talking about the athletics stadium or anything outside of my control.

  • Graham Watts says:

Interesting re stadium. Man city the number 1 club in Manchester do not own their stadium and pay around £4mllion a year for it and also get sole use.
Perhaps Jonathan is riled that we have 60,000 each game despite lack of success. I wonder how many Man U would get if in same situation. As for atmosphere in stadium I seem to remember Mourinho complaining that Old,Trafford was silent despite 76,000 attendances.Plenty of atmosphere in London Stadium when we beat them 3-1and then 2nil!
Man U have always had a large element of success supporters and in recent years the rise of Man City, Chelsea and even Leicester has gatecrashed the party. So despite spending ridiculous amounts of money (Sanchez on £500,000 a week!!) they are still playing catch up

    • Kristov says:

Well said , interesting on man city’s stadium, oop north and paying a lot more than we are to rent a stadium.

  • Kristov says:

My only fear is that our fans are starting to sound like arsenal fans , very vocal very uneducated and poisonous.
You only have to follow the match feed on whtid to see how bad its become. Let’s hope we shake them off before we get back in our stadium. COYI!!!

  • mooro66uk says:

He sounds very bitter. Wonder if he got a smack at UP and has never got over it? Probably because we’ve surprised them and stopped them winning a few things over the years. Typical whiney Manc. So wish Dawsons header had gone in at the end of normal time. Imagine what Johnathan woukd be saying then. You can’t help laughing at them.

  • Kristov says:

Do you think there would be more traffic on here if everything didn’t have to be moderated? People would actually be able to talk to each other . What do you think ?

  • Happy Hammer says:

Hey Johnathan ..have a perve in your own backyard before you worry about anyone else’s

Currently we are have a great season …let us enjoy it

  • Taffyhammer says:

Sounds to me like an old bloke hankering for the 70’s and the tribal gangs united in a cause to get on the telly. If you don’t run with my club, you deserve all the hate coming your way. Ignore us at your peril. If you do, we will burn your house down and hurt you and your family. Not at all nice. Thought we had managed to get beyond this mentality and just friendly banter was the order of the day. It seems throw-backs still exist.

  • Taffyhammer says:

We don’t own our stadium. Which club playing at a relatively top level does? Think you’ll find that the owners of Man Utd have actually borrowed all of their equity in their £1.5 billion club and most of their income goes into paying the interest of £75 million per year. None of it belongs to the fans. Pyramid selling philosophy which is sustainable as long as there is growth and success. Alex wanted to retire at 60. The share price of Man U dropped. Price and therefore value of the club would have plummeted. Back came Alex and stability was achieved. Eventually, a planned succession of management to Alex replacement, steady, proven David Moyes, was achieved and the ‘value’ of the club was maintained – for a while. Moyes mistake, if that is the right word, was to bring in other people with him. Maybe he had little option. Always the case when the boss of the last 20 years retires – so others take the view that they will go too. Arsenal also found difficulties with the transition from Wenger management.
The point is that almost all clubs don’t own themselves. It’s all borrowed money and loans.

  • Legin says:

From MSN October 2010, Man United debt figure:

The club reported a net debt figure of £474.1m as of 30 June.

Who owns them again; sounds like the Banks to me. They are just a money making vehicle for a bunch of disinterested investors; who is really deluded?

  • Jamie Hickman says:

Don’t know why you’ve gave this guy the oxygen of publicity, he’s phoned talksport periodically over the years with exactly the same rant. Seems like the guy has an enormous chip on his shoulder about London, just using West Ham as a smokescreen. Proper loser.
