Report: Chelsea looking to raise funds for £65m Rice bid

|

A report in the Guardian claims Chelsea are looking at ways to raise £65m to make a formal bid for Declan Rice suggesting that Frank Lampard is considering cashing in on Italian star Jorginho as the best way to do it

Speculation increased on Friday when Jorginho’s agent João Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss “Everyone knows there is a very strong rapport between [Juventus manager Maurizio] Sarri and Jorginho after five years working together, I’d be a hypocrite to deny that, but I also want to remind you that Jorginho has three years left on his Chelsea contract.”

It is understood Lampard reportedly would be happy to sell either Jorginho or Kante to fund his rebuild of Chelsea heading into his second season. Kante has been linked with a £70million move to Real Madrid, while those Jorginho rumours persist.

The sale of either player could be the catalyst for Chelsea to mount a formal bid.

There is no suggestion that David Moyes wants to put Declan Rice is up for sale or that the defensive midfielder is about to hand in a transfer request.

Earlier this week in a London Evening Standard interview Moyes said “At the moment there have been no offers for Declan and we don’t want any. There’s always interest but we don’t want to encourage it.”

Time West Ham did a Rodgers and said he going nowhere as he did for Chilwell. Unless of course a half empty ground doesnt bother the owners. There would be quite a backlash me thinks. Ambition -Did i spell that right ? Sick and tired reading about Declan rice nearly everday. Always the same speculation no news. Not his fault. Probably as fed up as everyone else.

Club needs to come out and say he will not be sold under any circumstance as we are looking to build around him and the likes of Bowen, Soucek etc. If he is sold I think the backlash will be immense and there will be an irreconcilable rift between club and fans. We cannot afford to sell our future.

Should not be selling our best players if owners were serious about going to the next level as they put it.

Personally think 65 million is a joke also let’s stop mooting this fee about.

Maguire was older and not as good as rice is now and he went for 80m. They paid 71m for kepa. 65m was paid for Rodri.

Rice played every minute of premier league football and maintained some of the best defensive stats in the league and his distribution when he wins the ball is getting better and better.

And all this rubbish about us getting a youngster from them on LOAN as part of deal is a joke. Small club mentality. Do not entertain any offers from them sulli!

They need to be told to F… Off in no uncertain terms. He is the heart of the team now and that should be an end to it.Sick of their plundering of poorer clubs talent.

Agree 65 million must be the deposit ! Tis all media talk .Even Lampard has said nothing happening. Still makes a good story i suppose. Speculation.

It’s just total media bullsh.. they are payed to.make up.this crap as well!!!Dec will.be a West Ham player next season and captain I hope..no disrespect to Mark Noble but he probably won’t feature as much next season if Mr Moyes gets his re-build under way..a BIG IF though

I don’t think they are interested at the price we would quote them, they also have Kovacic, Kante, Jorginho and Loftus-Cheek that play his position so it’s highly unlikely that he will move this season to Chelsea.
