Report claims 21 year old international midfielder is West Ham-bound

No sooner has Mateus Fernandes departed than another 21 year old Portuguese midfielder is, apparently,  reported as being ‘about to land’ at West Ham United.

That’s the claim from Portuguese news outlet record.pt, who report:

Gustavo Sá is leaving Famalicão and will reinforce West Ham next season, advanced the V+ and confirmed Record. The deal will be closed for a sum of around 20 million euros. SAD Minho initially pointed to the price of €25 million, but the negotiations end up not reaching this level.

He debuted as a senior in 2022/23 and, for the main team famalicense, added 120 games, 12 goals and 15 assists. West Ham will compete in the Championship, second English level, in the 2026/27 season.”

Which makes the fee about £17 million – a far more comfortable price for the club and the Championship than the £25 odd million quoted for Sheffield United’s Sydie Peck and ‘a steal’ as far as one or two competing clubs’ fans are suggesting this morning.

As far as his playing style – ‘ talent scout’ suggest he is a highly rated box-to-box midfielder in the style of the one and only Frankie Lampard… Most definitely one to watch this morning as the ‘Portugal’ links with West Ham’s manager make this either an ‘easy to join the dots rumour’ or a ‘real done deal’ according to what transpires during the day.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Sounds a good buy if we get him.
Not so sure about the Everton guy O’ Neil though, if he struggles to get in the Everton team I don’t think he will improve our te

An interesting signing and just what we need . Far better than the Everton guy who is so poor that even Moyes doesn’t play him . COYI
