Evidently West Ham’s recruitment department is now in overdrive to bring in winger and midfielder reinforcements, as reports fly around  continuing to speculate who will be the Irons’ first signings of the Summer.

The Fernandes replacement is probably the most pressing: Nuno’s squad are in preseason and reliant upon Magassa, Potts and Kanté for their midfield link up play and creativity.

Which is a concern for the Irons boss who will be looking again at Orford and Earthy, seeking the playmaker he lacks following the departures of first Paquetá –  and now Fernandes.

MLS midfielder on West Ham’s wish list?

Latest suggestion yesterday was that the Hammers were, somewhat improbably, scouring the MLS – North American ‘soccer’ – in search of a midfield playmaker. As caughtoffside put it:”

“West Ham identify 18-G/A creative force to lead Championship charge

West Ham United are looking to sign FC Cincinnati midfielder Evander during the summer transfer window. According to reports, they are impressed with the 28-year-old MLS midfielder, and they are looking to make a move for him soon.”

Area Napoli claims that the Hammers will make an official move for the player. Evander was linked with a move to Newcastle United a few years ago.”

Cannot profess to know anything about the player concerned but he’s the latest in a long line – from ‘Forest’s James McAtee to Sheffield’s Sydie Peck – suggested as West Ham’s ‘summer target’: One thing is certain, after McAtee’s snub, West Ham need to find themselves an affordable recruit sharpish.

Whether Evander’s skills are transferable from the MLS to the Championship is the hard part to gauge: That’s what Koppen gets paid the big bucks for.

Brazilian Evander, 27, with nine goals and nine assists is capable and affordable at €15m: Whether he is as ‘suitable’ as this report suggests is another matter altogether.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

We have got to get some players in.
Bowen decision to stay would be a lot easier if he felt the club were getting in players to help him get the team he loves back in the premier
Come on don’t tell everyone who we are looking at because as soon as we do, everyone else’s starts to look and we miss out
So come on scouter’s get some players signed now so they can work together for a few weeks and not just thrown together at the last minute
Or are we going to have the same scenario of big talk and no players
That would be cruel to all those fans who have backed the club and got their season tickets, good on them
Without the fans the club is nothing
So come on, get us some players in to look forward to watching
