West Ham return to check out player again after failed £17m striker bid

Back in April of this year, according to a plethora of reports, West Ham got in early with bid ahead of the Summer window for Palmeiras’ young striker Heittor Vinicius. The 18 year old was seen as an up and coming talent and several reports out of his native Brazil suggested a summer move was on the cards.

The player himself professed that he was open to a move to England.

Fast forward to July and the reports resurface that West Ham are still doggedly tracking the same player.

Led by twitter account WestHam Central, picking up on an ESPNN Brasil report, apparently the Hammers are seeking to breathe life into their previous dealing: A £17 million offer was made last Spring, according to Brazilian Journo Jorge Nicola on his YouTube channel.

The prospect of another ‘mythical’ Brazilian Wonderkid landing at West Ham has long since failed to excite weary fans – and writers – slavishly trying to follow every ‘report’ or ‘rumour’ that emerges from the ether.

This one – especially seeing that the player is, apparently, also being ‘eyed’ by Athletico Madrid – seems unlikely especially after West Ham’s last infamous attempt to bring a teenage wonderkid to the English Leagues.

That one didn’t work so well and cost the club about £10 million in losses: It’d take a brave head of recruitment who ignored the Guilherme lesson and went ahead with another deal from South America this season.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
