First teamer’s agent ‘playing for time’ over big money wage demands – West Ham News

It’s all getting very frenetic out there in transfer land.

Whilst the news today concerning Jarrod Bowen was fabulous, West Ham are resigned to losing one of their top stars who has ambitions above the Championship.

However, it seems that, reportedly, Crysencio Summerville may yet struggle to hit the heights with his wage demands, though, as the sticking point over his move to A C Roma is reported by the Italian press.

And it has led to his agent trying to drum up interest from closer to home.

As Sportwitness claims this afternoon, Summerville is ‘nowhere near’ signing for Roma owing to the €2million shortfall in their wage offer to the player: Hence his agent is doing what agents do best and punting his client around other top tier sides.

“West Ham player’s agent trying to engineer interest from Aston Villa and Manchester United” is their claim:

Talks with the player’s agents over a move to the Italian capital have intensified in the last few hours. The Giallorossi are pushing to reach an agreement with the West Ham forward, but the sticking point is his wages.

Crysencio Summerville remains a West Ham player as Manchester United continue to be linked with the winger without making a formal offer

“Nowhere near” a move to Roma

He is asking for €6m a year, and the Italian side don’t want to go beyond €4m. They’re sticking to their guns on that front as they will also have to spend €45m to persuade West Ham to sell one of their star players.

They are not prepared to wait much longer for the transfer to happen. The belief is his agent is ‘playing for time’ and delaying negotiations as much as possible.”

It could be suggested, with his agent hawking him around the Premier League’s top tier that Summerville’s priority might seem his wages ahead of his destination. The report maintains:

“He is waiting while also ‘sounding out’ clubs such as Manchester United and Aston Villa. The Premier League duo have recently inquired about the 24-year-old as well. Neither of those clubs have made definitive moves as yet, though, it seems.”

Previous reports have suggested he ‘always’ wanted Manchester United: However the Red Devils’ lack of definitive activity might suggest the admiration is not, perhaps, so strong from Michael Carrick’s side who still have to deal with their small Marcus Rashford issue before signing another winger.

Sounds like just maybe he’s not as close to the exit as first thought.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

yeh its an ‘aside’ comment in the Standard that has been blown into a full article: Summerville sticking to his £6 mill a year demand – he’ll not get half that at West Ham with the relegation clause so I suspect we know the outcome! That is.. IF he can convince another club to part with £40 mill plus £6 mill a year- hasn’t managed it YET

Needs to be patient stay with whu and get back up into premiership.
Whu get their £70m and he gets a wage rise.
    It’s a winner for all.

I don’t think any of us really know what his buyout clause really is. Regardless of what it is let’s hope we get the maximum possible. Excellent player on his day who is probably worth more than the figures being quoted if you compare the Fernandes transfer fee.

quick questions with the Roma thing Martin , isn’t the release clause of £40 million reliant on that it is paid up front and in full at the time of the transfer (does it expire 27th July??) ? , and aren’t the rumours that they are offering just two thirds of what the player wants ? so are Roma actually able to finance the transfer ? ? x
