Report: Hammers back in for long-term target

West Ham are back in the race to sign Jesse Lingard as he prepares to leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

The Sun reports that the Hammers want to bring the England international back to the club as his contract nears its expiration.

Lingard is certain to leave United once the season is over and it remains to be seen where he will land once he enters free agency.

But the new report claims that the Hammers remain interested in doing a deal to bring him back to the London Stadium after his wildly successful loan spell last season.

Lingard has struggled immensely since returning to United and has only made two starts in the Premier League this term.

The Irons want to improve the depth of the squad ahead of the 2022/23 season, with Moyes’ squad being stretched remarkably thin throughout the campaign due to their run to the Europa League semi-finals.
