Report: Hammers leading race for Championship ace

|

West Ham are leading the race to sign Ben Brereton Diaz from Blackburn Rovers, according to The Sun.

The Chile international has been in exceptional form in the second-tier throughout this season, scoring 22 goals in 37 games for the club.

The regular Championship season is now over, with clubs preparing for the play-offs, and Blackburn ended the campaign in eighth.

They were perhaps banking on promotion to be able to keep Brereton Diaz at the club but David Moyes is said to be keen on a swoop.

Alan Irvine has been asked to watch the 23-year-old in person, and Moyes is said to be ready to sanction a bid.

Brereton Diaz would cost £15m and he can play both up front and on the flanks.

Spanish giants Sevilla are also interested in doing a deal, and there is said to be a vast amount of competition for his signature.

West Ham are also said to be eyeing Hull winger Keane Lewis-Potter.
