Report: Hammers eyeing Serie A ace

|

West Ham are interested in doing a deal for Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli, according to a new report.

Locatelli has struggled somewhat this season and manager Max Allegri has confirmed that he isn’t part of his first-choice selection of midfielders.

Arsenal are said to be interested in bringing Locatelli to London but so are the Hammers, according to Il Bianconero.

The Irons are said to be eyeing up a potential swoop in the January transfer window, with a quick deal seemingly possible.

There is some confusion over exactly how a deal would work, however. Juventus signed Locatelli from Sassuolo in 2021 and agreed an obligation to buy him for €40m, which equates to £35m.

As a result, Juve won’t allow Locatelli to leave for anything less than that fee, which is a big investment for the Irons to make in January.

Locatelli is an Italy international with 24 caps and three goals for his country.
