Report: Hammers have new right back target

|

West Ham are reported to have approached Bologna for Japan International Takehiro Tomiyasu with the Daily Mail claiming Newcastle are also interested..

Tomiyasu, who can also play as a central defence or a defensive midfielder, is said to be valued at around £16million by the Serie A side.

West Ham and Newcastle have approached Bologna to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu this summer

Tomiyasu has established himself as a regular at right-back for the Serie A club, scoring one goal and providing three assists in 29 games.

The Mail declares that the defender is adept with both feet and can launch attacks with his range of passing.

He is good in the air and regarded as having a superb level of awareness and anticipation.

Claretandhugh says: With so many mixed messages coming out of the club right now and plenty of no comments being issued we can offer no certainty on this one. The only thing that is very well known indeed is that currently we don’t have a right-back seemingly fit for purpose on the books for one of the toughest Premier League starts West Ham have faced in many a long season. I’m not as despondent as many simply because we showed what we CAN be about towards the end of last season and that the likes of Soucek, Bowen, Antonio and Rice – pray God there’s no late bid from Chelsea – we have goals in us. Unfortunately, we also have the ability to concede many and until Moyes brings in his targets these remain deeply nervous times. One hopes that with a certain amount of cash in the bank now the manager can grab one of two of his central targets who we can only believe he must have decided upon with time so short.

Get in a couple of versatile defenders who can play on the flanks and in the centre.

  • Keith Southcott says:

Does it matter, as the board are only interested in money and have shown no love for the club and its fans, if any signing is any good they will soon be looking to cash in, its such a shame all the promises made about how things would be about not being a selling club anymore and all broken promises and now its back to how it was under brown and before.

Couldn’t agree more Hugh. What is concerning me is that whoever we get linked to seems to take up our whole c£20m apparent budget (or is it £27m now based on bid for JT?). This implies we buy one defender and then hope to get freebies for the other 2x most fans appear to feel are required. Can’t believe I’ve gone from feeling pretty positive about this season just 4 weeks ago to now feeling a bit despondent about the whole club……again!🙁

One can only wish that. But how I said before can you get players wanting to move to us when fans players are questioning the board there’s a toxic atmosphere at the club. New players that do come are going to ply for the badge more like the money they can get.
These are so sad times for us true Westham fans. But we should remember there was some investment this year with two new players Bowen, Soucek £40m for the pair of them.
So the Board has invested but the previous manager left us in this position last year with the clear out last summer.

      Behave hammer56.

    • GaryD says:

      Exactly.
Also, pretending Ben Johnson is of no value after one bad match, where Noble was half pretending to be our sole holding midfielder, when normally Bowen would track back, and Antonio was getting in the way is ridiculous. Johnson will be requesting a transfer next.
We have the best defensive midfield pair in the EPL and can build and develop around that.

SHOCK HORROR! Claret n Hugh post negative remark about GSB! The times are a changing, No whu fan with a shred of love for the club can support these pair of money grabbing (use your own words to describe Sullivan and Gold.Once the fans are allowed back in the ground won’t be a safe place for GSB,I hope for their own safety they sell club, in the mean time make sir Trevor brooking chairman.

Even Newcastle are investing wisely, quietly this window. We appear to all as a shambles yet again run by a pair of Barrow boys.

  • The Cat says:

Unfortunately for me, the negatives far outweigh the positives. A few weeks back I was up to my neck in transfer speculation and rumours of who we may add to the squad. I didn’t even bat an eyelid regarding the constant speculation and rumours regarding what I thought was player envy about Diangana. In fact, I was looking forward to the most exciting youth prospect in years and following on from Rice, kicking on and bringing the best out of the players around him including Haller.
Some may want it to be seen as a storm in a teacup about one player, but it is so MUCH bigger than that, with no real need to expand. This club for so long been about “The Academy” and as supporters, we feel this embedded in our DNA. This has crushed many of us as supporters and has even led to our captain and other members of the squad making their feelings crystal clear about this selling of a player that most of the team was looking forward to playing with. The exception may have been Anderson, whose place in the team was most certainly under threat.
I’m not quite sure what difference speculation involving incoming transfers can do to the feelings of supporters, but IF you really wanted to strengthen the side or squad, you wouldn’t sell a player like Diangana. A young player who plays without fear and does the job expected of him for the team and more.
Last but not least, when you see all of these so-called lesser clubs than us conducting business with many incoming transfers… It makes you wonder what is REALLY going on with “Our” club?
