Report: Hammers linked with Liverpool free agent this Summer

|

West Ham have been linked to a summer move for Adam Lallana when his Liverpool contract expires.

The 31 year-old midfielder is not expected to sign an extension to remain at Anfield as he would prefer to move to a new club where he is guaranteed game time. The Liverpool player has made only 19 appearances in all competitions this season, with just three of his Premier League showings coming as a starter.

Jurgen Klopp is said to remain a big fan of Lallana’s, though he continues to regularly sideline him, and the midfielder has made clear his wish to play more.Despite his lack of game time and injury problems over the past few seasons, Lallana is not short of admirers.

According to The Times, Leicester, Spurs Arsenal and West Ham are all showing interest in the England international ahead of him becoming a free agent. However, at 31 years of age Lallana does not match the profile of hungry players 25 years of age or younger that David Moyes have frequently referred to.

This report has all the hallmarks of an agent story creating interest for his client.

This would not be a way forward with younger players being sort after? Or more a move of going backwards with old and worn out players that carry injury problems? Surely we’ve learned our lessons from these sort of signings? Or have we ? No transfer fee injury prone going cheap? The board and management need to steer away from this kind of signing or its more of what we have already in the treatment room???

Or putting it another way, the club has got to move away from being a retirement home for players on their last paydays of their careers? We want players starting out on their careers who are hungry for success as our fans crave it’s been 40 years since we have won a major trophy surely that tells the owners that there players acquiring policy has to be different? They have started with this last window well in the younger signings carry on?? Don’t go back!!!
