Report: Hammers target Lazio striker

|

The Hammers are this morning (Sun) being reported as holding an interest in Lazio forward Joaquin Correa

However, should that turn out to be the case – and remember we have already been linked with around 70 players since the season ended – we will allegedly be facing competition from Everton for the 26-year-old.

The story comes ahead of the Rome club being apparently ready to appoint former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri as their new manager – with the Italian open to selling Correa.

One can only hope if this is true that he turns out to be a better buy than our last purchase from Lazio – a certain Felipe Anderson who will be on his way back to the Hammers after the summer break.

The news of possible interest in Correa comes in a report from TyC Sports and he is apparently valued at  £27million (Transfermarkt)..

During the 2020/21 campaign, he was capped five times for Argentina and scored 11 goals while registering six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

This guy is pure class so it means we will end up not getting him. I remember seeing a lot of him playing for a team in Spain but he joined Lazio and he was very good. I am not sure how he has played in Italy but certainly a really top player in Spain. If we could sign this guy and Hlozek from Sparta instead of Abraham and Lingard we would be top 4 contenders imo.
