Ignoring for a second the suggestions doing the rounds this morning that West Ham might launch a bid for Coventry City’s Haji Wright – which does seem a little counter intuitive seeng as Wright’s 17 goals helped fire Coventry into the Premier League last season – there’s another overseas striker being linked with the Irons this morning.
Wright, 28, has just 12 months left on his contract which is presumably why he’s being touted for a move away (footballleagueworld.co.uk) but having just made it to the Premier League, who would willingly drop back down into another season of Championship slog?
However, the football insider article suggests that the Hammers are considering FC Metz striker Habib Diallo.

Senegalese striker Habib Diallo is apparently a West Ham target
“Sources: West Ham set sights on signing Habib Diallo” runs their report today.
West Ham United are among a number of clubs plotting a move to sign FC Metz striker Habib Diallo, sources have told Football Insider.
The 31-year-old is expected to be available on a cut-price fee this summer after he was unable to help his side avoid relegation from Ligue 1 at the end of last season.
He still has two years remaining on his contract at Metz, but is keen to play at a higher level, and the club are prepared to cash in after dropping into Ligue 2.”
With Taty Castellanos linked again with a summer move away and Pablo being – well, just Pablo – West Ham could have urgent need of a Callum Wilson replacement as they head towards the Championship season opener. A modest – under €5 million – price might well make the Senegalese striker a useful addition to Nuno’s squad, if the reports are to be believed.
get vipotnik from swansea golden boot winner last year inchampionship cant get better
Let’s hope not at 31 he is not the age profile we need. We have enough players that are old already we need players like Fernandes and Summerville to replace those we have lost.
They will be out there, am not impressed so far with calibre of players we are being linked with.
As for Taty and his rumoured departure if the rumours are true and the offer is right get shot of him, he is not elite and might get us 10 – 12 goals a season in the PL which is decent but also has room for improvement. Pablo needs to up his game too, I like him but he doesn’t seem as sharp as last year.
These players will get a rude awakening if they think this season will be a walk in the park.
Is this a joke?
‘We tried’ to buy this striker in January.
Frank Lampard didn’t say p!ss off but put a price of £250m on him.
How about recommending players who are readily available.
Perhaps Koppin needs to spend 15 hours at the office if he can’t come up with suitable goods soon.
No point in Kloppen having a shopping list if no one buys a player as a result of it. Why is he looking for a cheap option when there is money in the bank? I thought we’d got rid of Sullivan and now we appear to have Sullivan Mk2!!!!
On the plus side, at least the endless rumours now seem to be focused on the biggest problem area, the front 4. If Taty does go, that just leaves Bowen as the only proven peformer at Championship level and above. Time for our new recruitment team to start delivering.
